Solo Flight: Scanning the Instruments, lesson in fsx

Featured Replies

There is no voice audio telling me what I'm suppose to do to complete this lesson. Lesson text simple says

"click Fly This Lesson Now to practice your scanning technique in the cockpit"

Rather vague and I end up just flying along with the lesson not ending.

Help.

Thats the whole point, you can practice scanning your instruments with nobody nagging, giving you things to do..

Dont forget, these lessons are for those who havent spent ages flying the sim, are probably new to aircraft, and so far, have not had a chance to look properly at those gauges, so for the rest of us, its like being told how to suck eggs, hence you think "Something is missing" when in fact, its actually staring us in the face.. A newbie to flying actually does need time to take in what gauges are there, and what they look like when flying normally :-)

The goal is to develop a habit, it's "easier to start with good habits than to try to break bad ones".

General rule is: eyes outside 90% of the time, inside 10%, unless solid IMC.

The scan will vary with the planes but generally, check the flight instruments, then the engine instruments, then back outside. You simply want to verify that everything is normal for the segment of flight you are in.
