November 29, 201213 yr Well to put it into perspective it costs more to travel to the next stop on the London Underground than the equivalent distance on Concorde!! In what way? You can't buy Concorde tickets anymore. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
November 29, 201213 yr but a number of eyewitnesses to the accident testified that they saw it on fire before it reached the point on the runway where it's believed it hit the metal strip. The fact that at least one of those witnesses was a commercial pilot could have created enough reasonable doubt for the appeals court to dismiss the politically inconvenient criminal charges. I always felt witnesses to not be 100% Reliable, there is too much of a human factor and we all know humans are not perfect. They are recollecting their memories of what they say that day and that can never be 100% A video camera is 100%, Flight Data is 100%, Witnesses are just interpreting there version of the events Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
November 29, 201213 yr In order for eye witnesses to give a reliable account as to exactly where Concorde hit the metal strip they would all have had to line the runway. In which case the metal strip would have been seen!!!!! The fault lies plainly with the airport authorities who admitted to only three rwy checks a day!!!! The French were very quick to ground Concorde as AF wasn't making any money out of it. BA couldn't continue to fly it as EADS held all the spare parts and refused to supply them. I agree with this. I have a saying (I might have borrowed it!), Believe NOTHING what you hear and only believe 50% what you see.
