"Shade for FSX" Like ENB but without crashes?

Featured Replies

Yeah, I'm not going to buy it.

I'll stick with the 'somewhat' faulty ENB on my system. I only get occasional crashes when accessing menu items, but never during or mid flight

Will just have to put up with it for now.

Are those menu crashes related to ENB or could this be the dreaded uiautomationcore.dll problem? If you've never read that word before, it probably is. ^_^ The fix is easy, just place one file in the FSX folder. Search the forums for that cryptic word if you like.

No, I use the FXAA Injector tool, which produces occaisional weird crashes where FSX just quits to desktop instantly. No errors or anything.

This is strickly with the FXAA because when I switched to enb, the crashes were caused by the g3d.dll, which is because of enb.

Doesn't the injector thingy offer some effects like ENB too? Never tried it so far.

On the dll. It's known to cause menu crashes, that's why I reacted to your sentence.

Sounded familiar. Buzz words.

If you are on Win7 and don't run the fix yet, it's really worth a look. No harm done if it doesn't work out. Just delete the dll again. It won't change anything on FSX itself. That uiautomationcore.dll problem even exists with Win8 as Jim pointed out in another thread.

Guys, I have a question about this shade.....

I recently purchased AS2012, so would this enhance it or would AS2012 already provide great shades as part of its weather engine/textures and what-not?

Your sim already comes with 'shades'. AS2012 may add some tones to them. Imagine someone holding a tinted lens in front of the FSX sun, that's the part Shade edits. Means, from the tones which came with FSX or got injected via a graphic addon to the ones you choose from the presets.

Then it darkens the shadows or colours them as you like and it also alters the colour of the fog.

Now, the question if it would enhance the impression you currently get is a good one. The other addons don't allow those light and shadow tones to get edited. They just install 'some' and then you can like them or not. With Shade, you can pick any colour or one of the numerous presets, enabling a certain light mood, as explained above.

Your subjective impression then decides if it got better or worse than default FSX. Sorry for no having a clear answer, Richard.
