November 28, 201213 yr Hi, I've been using RC since 2008 and I'm very satisfied with the product. I've never had any issues with it up until now. I'm using RC with PMDG B747-400 in FSX. The problem I'm having is when resuming flights from a saved state. If I load the saved flight in FSX (to get FS running) everything is ok in the cockpit, but if I then load the previously saved .rcd file and return to the cockpit, all the gauges in the cockpit are blacked out (i.e. the PFD's/ND's/EICAS). Also both the CDU's are gone. I've saved in the 2D cockpit and in the virtual cockpit, but this doesn't make a difference. I did not have this problem before since I'm already using RC for about 4 years, so I don't understand why suddenly the gauges turn black when loading a saved .rcd file (and yes, I have all the .flt/.wx files in the same folder and I'm using a legal version of PMDG). Any help is appreciated. Jon
November 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member because of the complexity of the aircraft, i don't think you can resume a saved flight. i might be wrong, but even without rc, can you save and resume a flight with pmdg using the fsx select a flight menu? jd JD Read my blog
November 29, 201213 yr Author Yes it is possible to save and resume a flight using the FSX menu without using RC. And yes it's also possible to save and resume a flight using RC, because I've done that so many times in the past. That's why I don't understand why this all of a sudden doesn't work anymore. I don't know how the saving works in RC, but if it uses FSUIPC, then that's the only thing I can think off that has been updated several times in the past. But I'm not sure if this issue can be caused by FSUIPC? Maybe a post in Pete's forum can also help? Jon
December 1, 201213 yr Jon, What is RC? The Big girl does not take too kindly to being restarted in the air mid way between flights. I have done it, but, the FMC is often screwed up and as I recall, you have to wait while the aircraft powers up meaning instruments may be initially un-powered and blacked out. I also seem to recall the IRS did not calibrate too well. The complex PMDG aircraft is trying to cope as best it can with the the MS FSX code. Regards Geoff Bryce
December 1, 201213 yr Author RC stands for Radar Contact. I know that the PMDG B744 takes a few seconds to get stabilised when resuming from a saved flight, but it can be done, and has always worked for me. As a side note: the queen stabilises a lot better in FSX than she used to do in FS2004 when resuming flights. Ok, I'm back to figuring out what could be the problem (I have one more thing I can think off what could be causing it).
