December 6, 201213 yr Hi Andy As there is only thee and me in this debate, let us continue by email. We now have each other's address, and files can be copied between us in a non-garbled condition. We can summarise in this thread when we have solved your problem. Some of the 214 readers (to date) may be interested, but for now we should restrict the discussion to the two of us. Regards Frank Hi Guys I don't know if this helps, i understand what your trying to do. I to run multi monitors in a home build cockpit using the ngx i also run in full screen mode and I'm aware of this issue with re-sizing and the saving of the gauges in the new positions what i have found out before is if you adjust the size of the gauges in full screen mode then switch back to windowed mode and save the flight. ( the gauges need to be displayed on windowed mode when saving,) The gauge sizes will save, next time you load the flight switch to full screen click on the gauge and you can drag it into position it should fit perfectly. I understand this only solves halve the problem i was wondering would the panel restore ini file provide the necessary information to edit the panel cfg positions or once you have saved your flight with the correctly sized gauges would that information save anywhere? if it did the panel position information could be used to edit your original panel CFG Im just trying to help and if you get a fix for this issue let me know please
December 11, 201213 yr Hi Paul Thanks for your input. Andy and I are making progress - slowly. The 6 hour difference between Canada and the UK doesn't help. Andy knows about that special bit of software and has had some success with it. However, my way (re-writing the panel.cfg file) is better and permanent. Once you have the right size for the 'window' you want to drag&drop you can open in wideview (widescreen?) and d&d the window to the place you have re-written it to fit. December 11, 201213 yr Author this is the file made my panel-restore utility, the *.ini file: [window 1] name=Zoomed Left Outboard DU x=977 <this is position y=1076 <this is position width=627 <this is size height=647 <this is size [window 2] name=Zoomed Upper DU x=2708 y=1045 width=596 height=612 [window 3] name=Zoomed Left Inboard DU x=1726 y=1072 width=614 height=647 [window 4] name=Zoomed Right Outboard DU x=4047 y=1250 width=600 height=612 [window 5] name=Zoomed Right Inboard DU x=3343 y=1248 width=600 height=612 the above is the entire *.ini file created buy panel restore utility as you can see there are positions of the windows but i do not think there is anyway to somehow enter these positions into panle.cfg file so that the it will be permanent. this is a short video i made how i use this utility once the initial set up has been done http://youtu.be/4PdisQh2Xrg at the end of the movie gauge doesnt work lol that's cuz i didnt run the SIOC i did not wreck it lol you are welcome to take a look i didn't bother making the how to set it up video since there was very little interest this one I mainly made for Frank so he can kinda see how i got it going I tend to overexplain mysefl just confusing the %&$# out of person and make it seem like its harder then it really is LOL but anyhow there it is Andy Home Cockpit B737
February 2, 201313 yr Hello Frank and Andy, I am also using PanelStore/PanelRestore tool to save position and size of my CDU, PFD and ND. I just read your discussion and ws wondering if you succeeded in getting the same results by editing panel.cfg? Thank you. PMDG Customer - JÄnis Freibergs
May 18, 201511 yr Hi mdavenport I don't know why I read this thread - it must have rung a bell. I honestly don't remember the outcome of my link with Andy. If you look me up you'll see I'm 82 and the memory is not what it was. However, I'm still with it and deeply into B737 using Jetmax. If I can, I will gladly help. How are you simulating? What software? What graphics card(s)? How many screens? What are you trying to achieve? Frank Regards Frank Jones
May 18, 201511 yr Author Sorry to raise this again but wondered if you ever got panel.cfg settings correctly positioning the gauges over multiple monitors? I am trying to do the same and struggling. yes as shown on the video in my post above using the "panel restore" program, in case of FSX. i now moved to P3D and no tricks are needed P3D saves your undocked "gauges" panel positions over multiple monitors per every aircraft you use, just choose your sircraft, place the undocked panels where you want them and save the flight. Start the flight next time all panels will be where they suppose to be. Andy Home Cockpit B737
