Is there High Quality Virtual Cockpit out there for the Default CRJ-700 ?

Featured Replies

Hey,

I just started to sim with finally tweaked FSX. It sure was lot of work on getting it working with my setup (3 screen - Eyefinity). I have a question about the CRJ-700. I have looked at the forums and the online stores for payware CRJ. So far from what I read, everyone complains about Wilco - their CRJ/ERJ product is off my list. Then comes, feelthere's ERJ v2 - from what I read - it has night flying issues - based on graphics etc - and their support forums isn't that active - I dunno if that is a good thing or a bad thing.

So after searching, I am unable to find good CRJ/ERJ models. The default MS CRJ-700 is nice, but I was wondering does anyone know if anyone did a High Quality VC for it.

I would love to update the CRJ's VC if possible.

I just do not know why there are no good CRJ payware models out? I love flying this jet, and I am sure there are lot of fans for it.

I'm not sure which night issues there are with the ERJs from feelthere, I fly mine pretty often and I've yet to see anything wrong with it. It's really fun to fly, handles kind of heavy, similar to what I would think they actually feel like. As far as the systems go, it's not the most high tech systems but it's not the lightest either. I enjoy it as my main regional jet! As far as the default crj cockpits, I'm not too sure..

I just do not know why there are no good CRJ payware models out?

The main reason is probably, that Digital Aviation as the only serious developer working on a CRJ split up a while ago. Aerosoft took control of the visual model, and that's actually done yet, but the one guy left from DA, who is working on the systems, seems to be busy with other things, and thus progress on that part is very small (if any). Refer to this thread: http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/33966-aerosoft-da-crj/

I'd like to have a good CRJ myself, but I found that the default one isn't that bad while waiting for the on mentioned above. But if you find any good upgrade for it, please let me know.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess for now, we all are waiting for a CRJ model for FSX/P3D, and (after extensive search on google/forums etc) - the best package for these planes is Feelthere's Embraer RJ V.2 (the one with 145, 135, 145XR).

I didn't realize it before but the default cockpit layout of CRJ is slightly different from ERJ.

If I do find anything about CRJ for FSX, I will post it up here.

Interesting thread here, - well I just bought Feelthere's ERJ v.2 (135, 145, 145XR) package. And it is an amazingly beautiful plane, and yes, almost all buttons work - even though I am new to the world of flight sim, I have to read the manual just to get the plane off the ground (I am a newbie). The eye candy is amazing and Call! addon for it - makes it very immersive and Virtual Pilot Checklist is awesome.

All things have flaws and it does have a major flaw (to me it is), is the the cockpit glows green when viewing the plane from the outside during night time flying (if instrument panel lighting is on) - that kind of ruins the scenery for me when flying. I have never seen any plane (in real life) fly with Dome Light on. There are knobs which should do this in the plane, but it does not work like that at all. One knob turns all the lights on including the panel.

Speaking of official support - I went and did an thorough search on Feelthere's forums - and this issue has been brought from day one (if I can recall it was from 2009), their response has been zero about this. They are not changing it at all. Lack of enthusaism from the developers is sad to see when this product is over 40 bucks. They did make a great product, but they dropped the ball in one main feature (simple graphic issue) - I would glady play $10-$20 to get that fixed (but imbo it is never gonna happen).

Question comes to my mind (as the plane is fantastic for day time flying, and for some cockpit glow is not an issue) - would I buy products from Feelthere in the future? Probably not - I will stick with these companies/products for their excellent support and quality Rex, Orbx, Quality Wings, A2A Simulations, FSDT, PMDG.

Either way Feelthere's action on this - gives me great material to write for my next book. Every issue has an oppurtunity (it all depends from what angle you look at it).

These are just my two cents.
