AOTD for 12/3 - Solomon Gold Dredge

Featured Replies

We get to hunt another gold dredge. Wonder how many there actually are in the Alaska scenery. Be nice if we got some gold to go with them.

Enjoy.

Thank you.

I get a big kick out of flying in the Nome region because my fantasy has always been to have arrived first before the rush and realized that the sand on the beach was, in fact, gold!

Best regards.

This dredge is not like the others. I could find no place clear to land to take a look. The forest must have grown up around it. So I had to land in the river and water ski up on to dry land. I took off the same way. I think it has some additional frame work and platforms in place that I have not seen on the others.

Steve

Nice job, Steve. I didn't even think to land there. B)

That is one excessively detailed object, the artists really went overboard on it and on many others. Objects in the Flight Simulator series benefit from what is called LOD (Level of Detail.) Pertaining to objects, this means that there are parts of it that only display as one gets progressively closer, so as to optimize performance. So, the object will appear differently depending on the distance.

Best regards.

I got this one this morning and did something similar to Steve. I landed on the frozen river, exited the plane, and walked over to the dredge. I agree, Luis. The detail on this object is outstanding. I walked all the way around the dredge and admired the skill that was used when it was made. I also looked for a way to walk into the dredge, but no luck.

This was a good one.

Thank you.
