December 7, 201213 yr Hi Everyone. I am a newbie and my question is do you need fsuipc for fsx and what is it's ?
December 7, 201213 yr FSUIPC is a free/paid interface module to increase functionality to FSX. It's not required if you're running a plain jane version of FSX but there are many payware aircraft out in the FSX world that require at least the free version of fsuipc. The reason I say free/paid is that you can use it for free, but you don't have many options. With the paid version, you are given the ability to do all your controls through FSUIPC along with a lot more usability options. Personally, the paid version is worth every penny, and then some. -Damien Damien Furtman Hovering Hellion

December 8, 201213 yr FSUIPC is good for a lot of stuff. I bought the registered version long ago and I use it to 1) Fine-trim my joystick calibration settings far beyond what the default Windows allows (and this is per aircraft if desired, not just one set of trim settings) 2) Wind smoothing - tweaks the weather engine to prevent the crazy hit to my plane when the winds change abruptly (+ many other weather settings I don't use currently) 3) Set battery life to infinite so I don't have to worry about time during preflight 4) Of course, the FSX interface for just about every add-on program out there. Features that I don't use are joystick button programming, keyboard keypress programming, cloud adjustments, turbulence adjustments, etc., or output to external physical modules like a GPS. This program is a must-have if you take this hobby seriously. Just my $0.02.
December 8, 201213 yr I had the paid version when I still used FS9. I used the freeware version for FSX until recently, thinking that I didn't really need the paid version. Swofford in the previous post says that FSUIPC is invaluable, and I agree. I was wrong about the payware version being unnecessary. The ability to run my joystick/throttle through FSUIPC for calibration and button assignment for individual aircraft is worth the cost alone. Couple that with all the other functionality mentioned above, and ... well, the payware version of FSUIPC is without a doubt a necessary utility. I can't recommend it enough.
