VATSIM

Can't mess around on VATSIM like grabbing a buddy and flying from state to state going 250 knots at 50 feet while trying to dodge trees, hills, and other objects (which is a load of fun in the L-39 and a nice break from rules and realism), if ATC doesn't bother you a SUP probably will. Also if you and a friend have military addons like the VRS you have to find a place to dogfight where a SUP will leave you alone (like northern Alaska). Boston ATC seems to be like VATSIM in many ways.

As long as you're not disrupting anyone, you can.

I endorse the efforts of FSX Beyond GameSpy enthusiastically. FSOpen/sessions is additionally a fine place to find FSX IP direct connections IMHO. I'm from msFLIGHTS.net. We're very active all day and all night, mostly FSX multi free flight, some organized hops. I do not think we (the multiplayer FSX community) will miss GameSpy at all. I agree completely with Mr. Ambrose (FSMP) that the worst thing that could happen to us would be for GameSpy to come back on line supporting FSX. Similarly, the best thing to happen to our community over at msFLIGHTS.net was when Microsoft killed MS Flight.

Hi,

Loss of Gamespy no real biggie in my case.

Our very active flying Club (OZX) had regular night session with up to 15

flying together.

We now have 5 (including me) hosting via direct connect, and IMHO its

better than ever.

Once you get your router port forwarding sorted, it works fine.

Only advice I could give for club/private session, do not post on

the net, your IP address.

We just meet up on teamspeak at an arranged time, and verbally

give out that address.

Happy flying !!!

How long will that take, does that mean VATSIM and its strict structure is our only alternative for those who simply want take a break from realism so they can casually fly around and do stuff?

NO
