I have no fear of being banned as I'm finding very little benefit from being a member of AVSIM at present, a statement that saddens me as I've found avsim to be a useful and great place to be over my many years of simming, for forums, news, and downloads. But recent policy changes, system changes, and certain members are making it hard work.

 

Well said...sadly this is a place in which the sheer volume (amount) of posts one makes is rewarded by a natty little badge or trinket regardles of the quality, content or helpfulness of said posts.

 

To a certain extent the moderators are damned of they do & damned if they don't but this issue could have been solved in a much more discrete manner & probably with a little less severity.

 

Compared to the majority of the innane crap that is posted into here it hardly creates a ripple IMVVHO.

 

But hey...##### do I know anyway?

Avsim the very same company i supported financially when they were hacked.

Like thousands of us i paid up when they needed help...would i do it now...NO

James your correct where does it stop ROTFLMFAO ..is that a permanent ban,a 30 day ban.will i get a knock on the door and a man with a cane gives me six of the best and sends me to bed without any tea.I mean what in hell is going on in this world when someone who DID NOT SWEAR is banned because his words looked like swear words.ridiculous state of affairs.

Well, their over-moderation is only hurting themselves at the end of the day. The FS community is a small one and will probably only get smaller. As it is the FS hobby is on the brink of disappearing forever. If the mods here are contributing to that, good luck to them. In a few years they won't have anything to moderate because no one will be posting.

 

And that will be the end of Avsim.

That's the interesting part. He didn't actually use a curse word but got a ban anyway.

 

I have seen the acronym "rtfm" many times, which IS an abbreviation of profanity but many of these posters are left alone.

 

Then again, maybe every abbreviation and direct or indirect use of profanity is dealt with behind the scenes and we never hear about it. Always two sides to the coin but in the end, 30 days banned for an indirect use of profanity for a first time poster is imo excessive and unnecessary.

I for one like to see this community grow larger since we are part of such a nitch hobby, and this doesn't help that at all.

I wish they'd release the 777 and i could just get on with my virtual flying.

I only come here to check for a release date,and see if i can help anyone with something.once this post finishes i will never return.
