ASE + FS9, local ATIS always reports clear sky

Featured Replies

I use ASE build 702, FS9.1, and full version of FSUIPC (a couple of versions older than the most current).

I noticed very recently that when I load up a flight ASE depicts the weather correctly according to the downloaded weather and reports correctly on 122.00, but the airport ATIS always reports standard condition. By that I mean clear sky, wind calm, temp 15, dew 5, etc..... I tried turning off all suppression options and restarts / refreshes to no avail. So far the flights are near New York area and this happened after the latest ASE update (?).

Any advice is appreciated.

Hello Jason,

That's certainly not normal. You are saying that the weather and all parameters are correct, but FSX ATIS is exclusively incorrect?

I would recommend that you verify there are no other add-ons causing potential conflicts (i.e. ATC network clients, all programs have wx turned off, including FSUIPC wx options). An update to the latest FSUIPC 3.x is also a good idea. Finally, an ASE reinstall may help if there is some kind of installation issue.

If you continue having problems can you please open a support ticket with details so we can investigate this further? Thank you!

Thank you for replying. The problem has not since returned (good!). Meanwhile ASE has been depicting WONDERFUL weather scenes in my FS9. Thank you for a great product!

After some more trials here is what I do and observe now.

I always start ASE first (FS9 mode)

Go to download page, get the GMT time right, and download current weather

Wait for download to complete, during which time I see download active and synthesis advice

Launch FS9, and start at an airport (doesn't matter where)

If I observe ASE it shows Depiction mode active for a very short while

In FS9 it shows clear weather, no depitcion. I can wait a while but no difference

Shut down ASE and restart

ALL back to normal, weather depicted correctly

In other words, ASE's initial weather depiction is not working too well for me. It takes a restart to get it to work. It is happening fairly consistantly to me and I don't think it has always been the case.

I use full version FSUIPC 3.999, with all weather settings off

Any thoughts appreciated.

Exactly the same problem here with version 702.

After I loaded FS2004 flight, I have to restart ASE and in this case it works.
