December 11, 201213 yr Just this morning, I purchased and downloaded opusfsx. In reading the Live Weather Engine manual, it says that lower resolution 1024 cloud textures are recommended for a "more realistic and less harsh" appearance. Does this sound right? Seems like we are going backwards from the HD 4096 resolution clouds.
December 11, 201213 yr OpusFSX itself doesn't care what the cloud textures are. If you prefer using 4096, then stay with that. Opus may be displaying more clouds than you were seeing previously, so there's a possible performance penalty involved. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your reply LHookins. Upon re-reading the OpusFSX Live Weather Engine, I am more confused than ever. In the "Sky and Cloud Textures" section on page 4, in the first paragraph it states "For optimum effect we strongly recommend you install the high-definition sky and cloud textures". Then in the next paragraph, it states: "We would strongly recommend using lower resolution 1024 cloud textures" for a "more realistic and less harsh" environment. I would appreciate if someone from OpusFSX would chime in because it appears that their manual seems to be contradictory? Or am I missing the point on this?
December 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi We definately recommend the lower resolution and non HD cloud textures now, they look better and give much better FPS. However, it is up to you, you can use whatever you want. I will amend the manual. Thanks Cheryl
December 29, 201213 yr Do you use REX or some texture generator for FSX? You can usually choose between having HD and non HD textures and the different resolutions.
January 4, 201313 yr No, Rex is not installed. I have lot of ORBX and UTX installed but no 3rd party common textures.
