December 13, 201213 yr I just tried the DX 10 fix and my sim is very smooth. The only problem I am having is that my anti-aliasing isn't as "sharp" as before. I see much more jagged lines, and I was able to fix this before by setting the anti-aliasing mode in inspector to 4xs. Now, setting it to this doesn't do anything, and using the internal fsx anti-aliasing is giving me jagged lines. I followed this tutorial ,but at the end, I don't know if it's a cause of the video encoding, his sim looks more "anti-aliased" than mine. Sorry for the rudimentary explanation, I am a noob when it comes to these inspector/graphics settings. I appreciate any help. Alfredo Terrero
December 13, 201213 yr Post your fsx.cfg here Alfredo, (rename it as fsx.txt so you can attach it in your post), and also we need to see your Inspector settings too. No-one can give you a meaningful answer without seeing what you've got, and that video isn't deep enough to even cover the basic setup. Also - download the latest "How-To" doc or pdf, and then work your way through it. PDF here. OK? :good: i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.

As for my cfg and inspector settings, here they are: The main problem is that lines are more jagged than when I use these settings: But unfortunately, those settings don't seem to work with DX 10 enabled, and according to the PDF, antialising needs to be checked in FSX to have anti-aliasing in DX 10 mode. December 13, 201213 yr Here you go Alfredo: Try the setting 4xSGSS here, and reset your fsx.cfg as per the changes I've made. You may drift away from some of them as no two pc's behave the same way, but some of your settings will cripple any kind of good frame rates - especially when running FSX on a mid-range pc. As I also noted in the fsx.cfg file - Anisotropic and AntiAlias must both be on inside the sim, with the framerate locked at 30. If it won't hold 30, then set it to 20 and set Inspector to 1/3 Refresh rate instead of 1/2. OK? Come back if you still have more questions, or something is still not working, or right. December 14, 201213 yr Author Thanks for your time and suggestions Paul. The aircraft preview screen still looks more jagged than when I was running DX 9 with 4xS anti-aliasing, but when I'm actually in-game, the anti-aliasing is essentially of the same quality as I had with my previous DX 9 settings, and my cockpits don't look blurry. Again, thanks for the help and for getting a fellow simmer on the DX 10 bandwagon. Alfredo Terrero
December 14, 201213 yr Good enough, Alfredo: Yeah - the aircraft preview screen is not too pretty, is it! Make sure you download and install the very latest patch 3.2.1 released this week. It contains a number of new fixes, and has a couple of bonus fixes that you will appreciate! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
December 14, 201213 yr I have kept retrying DX10 every time there is a new improvement and like you couldn't live with the AA performance. The last time I tried a few weeks ago I switched on the FXAA function in the Nvidia Inspector as well as 4xSGSS. This was really good and the closest I have got to DX9 AA performance. Even the preview screen looked pretty good. Give it a try there did not seem to be a performance hit as far as I could see. I really like the overall effect of the lighting and shading in DX10 but something always seems to crop up to force me back to DX9 - last time it was that the grass on the airfield in Earth Simulations St Mary's in the Scilly Isles looked like strange green cubes, quite weird. So near yet impossible to live with. Kelvin
December 14, 201213 yr My only answer, Kelvin, is to suggest that DX9 has so many flaws that are fixed in DX10 - thanks to Steve's work - , that I can't go back there. Most of my flying is VFR around the PNW - Vancouver - Victoria - Seattle - Portland area and there's lots of water there, and neither REX, nor FSWC, Lite or otherwise, nor AS2012 - have water that, in any way - approaches that of Version 3.2.1 water. DX9 cannot free up memory to prevent OOM's, as is done by DX10: FSX-DX10 is also wa.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.y smoother ... Shall we talk about bloom in DX9? How about those Cockpit shadows.....? I would also suggest you simply ignore this one very minor blemish for the present, Kelvin, as more goodies are coming... i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
December 14, 201213 yr I've been able, with my slightly less than top shelf computer, to dial in AA under DX10 preview such that it so closely rivals DX9 8xS 2xGSAA that I have to "split hairs" to notice the difference, but then again I'm running at 1680x1050. I too cannot go back to DX9; I ran a test a few days ago running DX9 and thought "crud, now what did I break" but nothing was broken other than the now lackluster visuals and performance of DX9. For those with cherished but non compatible add ons I can imagine the disappointment. I'm still trying to get over that the A2A cub does not have cockpit shadows (oops, crud...yet another split hair). Not only is the aircraft preview window essentially the same as when I used DX9, but the AA is really now essentially the same as before in DX9. This fix altogether is great for the FS community; the game is so smooth now now that it's like getting new hardware. Alfredo Terrero
December 16, 201213 yr Hi i look at the FS.cfg kjjj11223344 this linea [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE.0] Mode=1920x1080x32 put this in your FSX.cfg to désactivated is for DX9 and not DX10 or delete it your PROB come from here //[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE.0] Mode=1920x1080x32 i look you are on DX10 in the [GRAPHIC ] D3D10=1 that is DX10 activated it's good best regards Patrick
December 16, 201213 yr It's not quite his problem, Patrick - he has the correct entries for both DX9 and DX10. The DX10 entry is down near the bottom of the file:- [DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 SE.0.0] Mode=1920x1080x32 AntiAlias=1 <---- these two settings are a "must have" Anisotropic=1 <----- Add this here He didn't have AntiAlias entered here in this extract, and the DX9 entry doesn't need to be deleted. FSX knows which one to choose by the ".0]" or the ".0.0]" number. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
