December 19, 201213 yr Been running FS9 on Windows 7 for the past 3 years and just recently when I start FS9 the splash screen loads but wont go any further than that. Tried system restore, new FS9.cfg, any other suggestions? CFII & Delta 737 First Officer
December 20, 201213 yr Have you recently added any new sceneries, or made any other changes? I had a similar problem a couple of years ago and traced it back to some scenery library parts (for EZ scenery I think). Once I removed that entry from my scenery.cfg everything worked fine. Graeme Butler
December 20, 201213 yr I think Graeme is on the right track--scenery issues can cause FS9 to stop loading at the splash screen or shortly thereafter. Often it happens when FS9 is checking the scenery and preparing to build an index. The index files are all named "scenery.dat". If you search the FS9 home directory for all files named "scenery.dat", then sort them in date order when the search is complete, the most recent timestamped scenery.dat usually resides in the scenery folder that's causing FS9 to stop loading. There may be other causes, but scenery is the most common cause. Also, as a sidebar, on my old system I started getting more and more frequent "rebuilding scenery index" messages. It was a sign that my hard drive was failing and that my scenery files were getting corrupted. FS9 detects any change in a scenery file, or the addition of one, or removal of one, and rebuilds the scenery indexes. Hope this helps. John
