Where would be the best place to post this?

Hi all,

I have taken a lot from this community recently and thought I'd give a bit back. Over the past 3 days I have spent a lot of time setting up FSX, then formatting a resetting up across a few systems to determine the optimal way to install for people not interested in lengthy guides.

Though we have a lot of fantastic and in depth guides, I am aiming to write a very short and concise one for lazy people like myself, who just want an easy "how-to" guide for vastly improving stock FSX performance with minimal understanding and tweaking.

My time on other forums (i.e DCS) has shown me that there is a fair bit of interest in the lazy persons approach to a quick and easy well optimised FSX install. Where would be the place to write and post it? I thought that perhaps a new member area for new people that would prefer to start flying?

Maybe MOBO, RAM, CPU's & Other Hardware (where Word Not Allowed's Guide is currently linked) or Flight Simulator Tips and Tricks?

Don't get me wrong mate, but wouldn't this be like giving a woman a set of wrenches and letting her service her own car by drawing a diagram on the back of an envelope?

If people don't understand what they are tweaking, or why certain numbers are used, there WILL be a natural inclination for folk to simply use bigger numbers "thinking" more is more... Thus screw up their systems and result in more unhappy users.

Tonight for example, I have been messing about yet again, and find that setting 24FPS fixed, is sooo smooth, I even flew in a full on thunderstorm, across to London City Airport in the default cessna, being thrown about all over the place, and was stutter free, no flickering, no flashing, nothing stuttering, was pretty mental actually, but I only got there by understanding what FSX is actually doing, and what all these bloomin numbers mean, why they go where they do, and what they represent.

No good saying to somebody "Set affinity mask to 84" if they have zero idea what it is or why its 84, but naturally some will think "Ahhh, set it to 500" for example, then kickback and complain because you didn't tell them what it did.

I actually think Word Not Allowed's guide is already the "Lazy mans guide"...

If somebody cant or wont invest 1 hour to read it a few times over, do you really think they are that interested in FSX or flying, or are they just looking for an arcade game?

If they want lazy, just point them at youtube and search for "FSX Tweaks", job done... Then they can go screw up their system at somebody else's say so :-)

That is of course, just my educated guess at the situation...
