Approach and landing: Hints and tips

Featured Replies

Hi there fellow simmers. I made a few vatsim and fsinn tutorials earlier, and they became somewhat popular. I decided to make a lil' something for the fresh simmers among us (if they exist? :) ). In this video I talk about how to maintain stability during approach, and some tips to where to fix your eyes just before and during the flare. I also show how you can use the external views to aid you in working on your techniques.

Disclaimer: I am not saying I'm professional at this. I'm a hobby flightsim enthusiast, and please treat this guide as such. Also, there are a thousand things one could tell a new simmer, but one has to prioritize you know... :)

Popular? Blimey, I just watched all 5 of them this evening, there awesome... Have bookmarked them for repeat viewings.

One thing I did notice in the first video was that you didn't say anything about not entering any user info during the install as I've seen a few folk mention here, and to do it after its installed..

Other than that mate, those VATSim/FSInn vids are priceless, well done on those :-) :good:

Great vids mate, definitely worth watching several times over

Hi Richard, and thank you for your kind words :) Since you enjoyed my vatsim tutorials so far, you might enjoy my latest creation: A Vatsim holiday special - from ENGM to ESSA with nearly full atc coverage (as I enter Sweden a few minutes after takeoff).

In regards to the installation and entering your user infos: I always enter it during installation and have never had any problems with it. Could you link your source in regards to this? If my tutorial is wrong I will edit this of course :)

Thanks again!

Hi Andreas

Not saying yours is wrong mate, far from it, it was something I read in the VATSim vs IVAO thread here..

Make sure, during install, you do not enter anything in the fields that ask for your name, Vatsim I'd, etc. simply click enter and keep going, leaving everything blank.

The whole thread:

I still haven't connected just yet, not even tried, as I'm still finding my feet with Navigation and the totally awesome EFB from Aivlasoft, just like you advised in your tutorials, know your way around and your aircraft first :-)

Keep up the great tutorials mate, I look forward to learning from your tutorials, and if you ever fly over EGKB, give us a wave :-)

Guys, the advice to leave the fields blank during installation came from the install sticky for FSINN located in the Vatsim forums.

I have had no end of problems before, and they were traced to entering information at this stage. Sometimes it works seamlessly, other times it doesn't. It was determined the safest way is to install with the fields unmodified, and only enter information after the complete install is finished.
