Uninstalling rex?

Featured Replies

hello friends,

i wanted to uninstall rex completely so i ca install rex essentials everything was going as smooth as butter, uninstall completed successfully however upon opening up fsx and jumping into a random flight i can still see all the rex textures e.g clouds, sky theme, etc...., is there something i have missed for the textures to still be visible in fsx prior the uninstall?.

many thanks

Did you restore the FSX textures before uninstalling Rex?

Yes, this was a crucial step outlined in the user manual in regards to uninstalling. You should RESTORE your original textures prior to doing so.

The only thing you can try at this point is try a REPAIR from the original FSX DVD.

Also, when you uninstalled REX, did you manually delete the leftover folder where it was installed? If not, you might have lucked out... let me know and I will advise the next step!

From my understanding, there is a folder inside the REX program that says "Backup" or something to that sort.

If you did a system restore, and the files are back in your REX program, just copy those backup files to your FSX/Scenery/World/Textures

You could try:

Step 1: Copy that folder containing the "Backup files" in your REX folder to another location.

Step 2: Re-install REXE+ or whatever you had

Step 3: Copy the Backup folder from step 1 and overwrite it into your newly re-installed REX

Step 4: Do the Restore textures option inside your REX

Then uninstall.

Sometimes system restore messes things up worse!

Try what Scarlett advises. If this doesn't work you will reinstalling things again.

Do I have to follow the same procedure to upgrade from REX Essentials to REX Essentials Plus?

Thanks!

This is for everyone out there, make a backup copy of your MS Flight Simulator X\Texture folder, and while you are at it make a copy of your C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsft\FSX (the one that contains your FSX.cfg, DLL's and XML's) and finally your C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX folder which contains your scenery.cfg's and the like.

Put them all in a Back-Up folder on your desktop and you will have something to turn to when issues arise.
