December 26, 201213 yr Hello everyone, After a computer 'recovery', I'm preparing the tedious task of reinstalling FSX. From earlier installations I remember that the correct setting of Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Windows 7 seems to be a critical item for running the sim. Could someone please enlighten me what the setting should be (first or second bullet, with or without exclusion of FSX)? Thanks in advance for your help. Kind regards, Rene René Bongers
December 27, 201213 yr You cannot change anything in the DEP for FSX. It will not allow it. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! December 28, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the reply Jim. So I will leave it in its default position (first bullet ticked). Kind regards, René René Bongers
December 28, 201213 yr Yes. But, since you're almost there already, you might change your Virtual Memory (Page file) to System Managed Size as FSX seems to like that the best. The default is the tick all the way at the top. As I have 8 gigs of memory, I have turned mine off as the experts say I have enough memory. December 28, 201213 yr Jim, I have always wondered about turning my page file off as I have 16GB of memory. Yours is turned off and you're not running into problems?
December 28, 201213 yr Jim is there anywhere that explains how to do this, I have 8GB of memory too. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
December 28, 201213 yr Just go into the Virtual Memory settings and click on No page file. To get to the Virtual Memory settings, right click the Computer Icon on your desktop (if there) or go to the Menu and right click Computer then select Properties. Once open click on Advanced System Settings, then Performance Settings, then click on the Advanced tab, then click on Change under Virtual Memory. Click on No paging file and the Set. You'll get a warning message but close and restart your system. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource!
