January 6, 201313 yr My OS is Windows 7 64. Xplane is 10.11. I purchased it on 12/26/12. I am also confused as to purchasing new aircraft. IE. will XPlane 9 aircraft run on XP 10? I'm coming from FSX. I'm really confused as to what to purchase. Because of all these versions and what works with 32bit and 64bit and version 9. Can someone clear things up for me. I don't want to spend money on scenery or aircraft only to find out it won't work with my version of XPlane. Thanks in advance to all who reply. Bill
January 7, 201313 yr Only the beta version 10.20 has 64 bit. It will run both in 32 and 64 and it is my understanding that future releases will work with both. If I am correct, and someone will correct me quickly if not, your 10.11 is 32 bit only. John John Wingold
January 7, 201313 yr 10.11 is 32 bit only. Correct you are John. @Bill Bill if you want to try 64bit you will have to update to the latest version. Make sure you click on the beta option before updating . There is an app "X-Plane 10 installer" within XP root directory use that to update. I would advice that you download the latest installer from X-Plane.com then update. Most payware aircraft work fine with XP10 32bit mode. January 7, 201313 yr Hi! Yes you can also download the *X-Plane 10 installer* from the website from X plane it selfs. You can choose between 32 bit and 64bit up to you. I flown the CRJ 200 payware in 64 bit. Cheers!
January 7, 201313 yr If you have the hard drive space, I'd recommend having two X-Plane installations. One to be the 10.11 stable, and the other to update with betas. So far, I haven't had any real problems with the betas, but if there's ever a question of compatibility-- particularly with payware-- there's always the stable release to fall back on. Then, when 10.20 goes stable, you can update your 10.11 installation and keep the other one for when the new round of betas come out. January 7, 201313 yr You have a choice xplane comes with a 64bit exe file and a 32bit exe file run whichever you like. Mike.
January 7, 201313 yr In my installation X-Plane.exe in the 64bit version and X-Plane-32bit.exe is the 32bit. Both are in the root of your installation. Both are installed with the installer. I also agree with JonRD463 in regards to having a stable version as well as a beta.
January 7, 201313 yr Author Thanks again to everyone. You cleared up all my questions. I haven't decided if I'm going to install the 64bit beta. I think I will just purchsed the Carenado Beechcraft 200B. It says it's 32bit with a upgrade to 64bit coming later. Bill
January 7, 201313 yr Carenado Beechcraft 200B. Good choice Bill, you're gonna like it. January 7, 201313 yr Author I meant the Beech Baron 58 by Carenado. Still a good choice. Thank You. Bill
