Thanks for the replies and suggestions. Unfortunately the weather steadily deteriorated thoughout last week so I had to stick to hiking. :)

It's a beautiful place to fly RL. My buddy and I did a cross country from Chicago to Fresno, and our flight plan brought us over AZ so we could route through some lower portions of the mountainous terrain of CA. We were flying a Cessna 182 Turbo Charged he had just bought to add to his fleet of A/C. We were both excited to see how high up we could bring it. After experiencing some of the worst turbulence of my life, we tried going up to max service ceiling of around 20k feet, with oxygen, but it was no relief... I hope your rides out there are a lot smoother!

 

The scenery alone was worth it. I can still remember thinking how lucky I was to see such a beautiful view of an already gorgeous state.
