March 2, 201313 yr Windows 7 with SP1, and FSX with SP2 + Acceleration. 8GB RAM and nVidia GTX580 with driver v314.07. Have "WideViewAspect=True" set in FSX.cfg. I modified the C:\Users\Neil\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Cameras.CFG file to set the virtual cockpit zoom to 1.0, which seems to be the recommended value for my 16x10 Dell Monitor with a resolution of 1920x1200 with WideViewAspect set to True. When I start a flight, the VC zoom is set to 0.70, no matter what aircraft or other flight settings I enable. The "initialZoom" setting does not appear to have any effect. What is the problem? The cameras.cfg is set as follows: [CameraDefinition.002] Title = Virtual Cockpit Guid = {C95EAB58-9E4A-4E2A-A34C-D8D9D948F078} Description = This is the description of the virtual cockpit view. Origin = Virtual Cockpit MomentumEffect = Yes SnapPbhAdjust = Swivel SnapPbhReturn = False PanPbhAdjust = Swivel PanPbhReturn = False Track = None ShowAxis = YES AllowZoom = TRUE InitialZoom = 1.0 SmoothZoomTime = 2.0 ZoomPanScalar = 1.0 ShowWeather = Yes XyzAdjust = TRUE ShowLensFlare=FALSE Category = Cockpit PitchPanRate=30 HeadingPanRate=75 PanAcceleratorTime=0 HotKeySelect=1
March 2, 201313 yr I will stand corrected on this, and it's a while since I used the FSX native views, but I believe the InitialZoom setting on the VC view doesn't work. I think it is taken from whatever was saved with your Default Flight. Try setting up a flight (any flight) with the Zoom Level that you want, and save it as the Default Flight. I think you'll find that then when you start any flight you will get that value as the initial zoom. These days I use OpusFSX for my camera setups. Sooooooooo easy and smooth.
March 3, 201313 yr FSX with SP2 + Acceleration Hi Neil Your problem "Could" be that, as you have said, you have both SP2 + Acceleration" installed. FSX is either SP1 & SP2 OR Acceleration, but not both. Initialzoom DOES work just fine, I set mine to 0.3 with wideaspect turned off, and it works just fine. Richard... March 3, 201313 yr Author Let me correct my mistake. I have Acceleration. I thought that included SP2, but only one is installed and everything else functions fine and has for a while.
March 3, 201313 yr Initialzoom DOES work just fine, I set mine to 0.3 with wideaspect turned off, and it works just fine. Then I stand corrected. But I do recall it didn't work for me, and the Saved Flight tip fixed it.
March 4, 201313 yr Author Well it definitely doesn't work for me. I'll try the saved flight and see if that does the trick.
March 4, 201313 yr InitialZoom = 1.0 I understand your problem, try to modify the opus camera views in the same way also located in cameras.cfg and, if you want the 1.0 zoom to stick even after setting up cameras in the opus interface, modify the camera definition text files in your opusfsx directory. Please report back your results. Regards; Fritz
March 5, 201313 yr Neil Does it work if you set wideaspectview to false? I wonder if that makes the different, in that when using wide aspect view, 1.0 might be the smallest it goes to instead of down to 0.3? I've never used wideaspectview... I tried it, but totally didn't like it.. Richard... Amateur Pilot and UK Web Hosting Guru 🙂
