Button Control Not Starting

Featured Replies

Hello,

I just bought the Button Control for the 737. I was wondering how to get the button control menu up. I have clicked the instrument that is said to pull up the menu in the manual and nothing happens. Please help me ASAP.

Can I chime in here? I too just purchased and installed the Button Control for the 737NGX. I followed all of the instructions about the hot keys to launch the app. I boot FSX with the trike, load the 737 in 2D mode, and if I click on the blank panel, FS2Crew opens just fine. However, when I am in the VC view, the hot spot on the panel does NOT work. Hmmmm...

So I'll just use the keystrokes. I used SHIFT+. (that's SHIFT and Period) for the Primary button = Alternate static source, and SHIFT+, (that's SHIFT and Comma) for the Secondary button = Propeller sync. The keystrokes do NOT function, either.

So now in order to access the FS2Crew panel, I have to be in 2D cockpit mode. Read the troubleshooting guide and tried to research this up here without much results. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Addendum: So what's with the Primary hot-key being Auto-feather? And where is the Secondary hot-key now supposed to be? Methinks there is a problem with the documentation. I changed the key assignment in the FSX controls to Auto-feather, with SHIFT+. as the hot-keys, and at least the hot-keys and the button on my Saitek X52 work now. The hot-spot on the panel is still not functioning in the VC mode.

Whazzup?

Please check this page.  Main Button is not Autofeather, but rather Alternate Static.

http://www.support.fs2crew.com/help/manuals/#pageid=pmdg_737_ngx_special_bundle_pack11

Main Button = ALTERNATE STATIC SOURCE (ON/OFF)

Secondary Button = PROPELLER SYNC (ON/OFF)

Toggle Panel Open/Close = AUTOFEATHER (ARM/OFF)

FYI, your click spot is not working in the VC because you probably ran the PMDG Performance Manager, which deletes the FS2Crew entry used to open/close the main panel in the VC.

Using the Autofeather assignment is the best way anyway.

Cheers,

I read the manual - and I programmed the hotkeys as instructed - remember my original post:

So I'll just use the keystrokes. I used SHIFT+. (that's SHIFT and Period) for the Primary button = Alternate static source, and SHIFT+, (that's SHIFT and Comma) for the Secondary button = Propeller sync. The keystrokes do NOT function, either.

Now, maybe it was the combination of the keys, but I doubt it. I programmed SHIFT+. for the Alternate Static Source and SHIFT+, for the Propeller Sync. They did not work. The only one that works was when I programmed the SHIFT+. combo to the Autofeather command, and at least THAT opens the panel. So my question remains: why can't I program the hotkeys to work as instructed in the manual? It's almost like FSX doesn't even recognize the Alternate Static Source and Propeller Sync commands at all.

SHIFT+

Not sure, but try not using combos like Shift +.

Please try again, but use regular keys, like C, V, B, etc.

FSX should definitely recognize the keys.  The system we're using for key assignments is pretty bullet-proof due to its simplicity.

When you press the Main Button key, does the display in the Main Window on the FS2Crew Main Panel change?

If it does, then the key assignment worked.  But if you can't hear the crew talking, then perhaps you have a sound issue.

It's kind of hard to use single keys - FSX uses just about every key on the keyboard for one thing or another. I chose several key combinations that were not important (I think they were originally used in helicopter stuff). The keys I used were the SHIFT key, along with the Period key (.) and the Comma (,). So now I have gone back and assigned different keys (CTRL 7 for Alternate Static Source, and CTRL 8 for Propeller Sync). As soon as I have a chance, I'll give them a try and let you know what happens.

I have no sound issues. When I use the key that works to launch the control panel, the FS2Crew system works fine.

I have re-assigned both Alternate Static Source and Propeller Sync to single keys, TAB and \ respectively. It doesn't matter which keys I use, they do NOT activate anything in FS2Crew. The ONLY key that works is the AutoFeather assignment, which I have set to SHIFT and Period (.) . Can anyone out there tell me what is happening here?

What is supposed to happen when I press the Main Button or Secondary Button. It seems that everything can be accessed from the Main panel. In any case, the assignments in the manual are NOT working. Why not?

I still think the combo key assignments are the issue.

90 percent of the default FSX key assignments you'll never use, so it's safe not to use them.

Again, try setting the Main Key to the letter C, for example (no combo's).

When FSX tells you another event is using C, just click okay.  You an always revert back.

When you press C, the text in the Main Panel will change and you'll hear crew talking.

If you still have problems, please Private Message me and I'll help you via a Remote Desktop session.

Cheers,

I think these keys have been working all along. When I click on the Primary button (C right now), the commands change in the left window, so I am thinking the hot key is now working.

In essence, the hotkey buttons do the same thing as clicking on the up and down arrows next to each window. Am I correct on that? If so, the buttons are working fine.

Glad you're up and running.

If you use the arrow buttons, the event associated with the Main Button press will "not" get triggered.

You'd only use the arrow buttons if you want to skip around the checklist.

You press the Main Button to trigger what is described in the main panel window.

You should hear the crew talking when you press the Main Button.
