Win7 & FSX Overclocked

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

See hypothetically if I were to reformat my SSD and re-install Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit fresh install and FSX w/ addons and tweak but don't downlock my overclocked i5 2500k so it's still overclocked to 4.7 whilst installing/ tweaking/ flying.

If I were to still have a stutter once re-installed and no difference no matter what setting I play with either tweak wise in FSX.cfg or tweaked Win7 as by the online guides.

Would installing and tweaking with the system overclocked cause this stutter that won't go away? If so how would you recommend going about things.

Thanks!

IMO, I would not reinstall the OS while on an overclocked system. This could create an instability and installation issues. It is best to just go into the BIOS prior to reinstall and save your current settings. Once saved you can load the default settings. Then you can do the reinstallation.

Yeah I did it without realising it was still over clocked, stability wise it'll run for over 24hrs with NGX and addon scenery etc. at a steady 29/30fps (locked) just a really annoying stutter when turning at all which I believe that my install process whilst overclocked may to be blame?

Do you think it would be beneficial to reformat fresh without overclocked and so would that possibly* solve the stutter?

So should I get rid of the overclock and re-format? Would it be worth it considering the above ^^ :) All advice welcome :)

Probably no replies since no way of really knowing... or how bad the stutter is w/o seeing it.

Just curious if you back Autogen down a notch or two... does that resolve the stutter? (and if anyone accuses me of being Summer1 i'll be so  :t0103: ).

I'll take a video of it in a bit... It's the same

No matter what level of autogen or aircraft ... Have went through Word Not Allowed's guide and tried many alternative settings re: bufferpools etc.

Will post a video in a bit.
