777 Rocking problem
I actually tried to disconnect my Saitek controls from controlling any trim. I though that had fixed it, but unfortunately it didn't. I believe it is a trim issue. When any of us descend in this aircraft, check out the trim control tab. It continuously moves, I agree that it seems to fighting itself and cant find an equilibrium. Phil

777 Rocking problem
Anyone get any resolve? I have been told by PMDG to do a reinstall of the 777. I am thinking something else is going on here. Phil

777 Rocking problem
I have this issue as well. Did a short flight with no weather engines. Just had the sim running and clear weather in FSX. In V/S mode descending at -1100 FPM the plane would pitch up and the down through the descent. Hopefully this can be fixed. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Now this isnt even funny anymore.
Just curious....what would happen if you turned off all your traffic settings. Meaning 0 airline traffic, 0 GA traffic, 0 ships, 0 cars, etc. those are real frame rate killers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Upgrading to Windows 8 - A question
I would not upgrade to windows 8. IMO. It is truly meant to be for touch screen and tablet applications. And if you are only running FSX on your system then there is no need to go through the time and money of upgrading. I hear Microsoft will be doing a major upgrade to Windows 8 later this year. Might be worth it to hold out and see what will happen with that. Phil

NGX + Saitek Rudder Pedals Issue
I had the same issue as well. All I did was update FSUIPC to the most recent and that fixed the problem. I also increased the null zone in FSX for the toe brakes. All is good now. Phil

Win7 & FSX Overclocked
IMO, I would not reinstall the OS while on an overclocked system. This could create an instability and installation issues. It is best to just go into the BIOS prior to reinstall and save your current settings. Once saved you can load the default settings. Then you can do the reinstallation. You guys "wanna" see some cool light for FSX..
I think this is a good idea as well. I have emailed the developer asking if there is a way to get rid of them.

You guys "wanna" see some cool light for FSX..
Great pictures! One thing I noticed is that it appears that the lights go far into the distance. With these lights and UTX I can't get them any farther than a couple mile radius around the aircraft. It looks like your lights cover the entire cityscape. Did you do anything to accomplish this?? Thanks, Phil

SP2 Question
philn replied to Bunchy's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHey Stu,Damian told me that if I have the latest 642 installed that we don't have to download and install SP2. SP2 has all previous updates included. Phil

New Version/Build 642 Causing Some Problems
philn replied to cmpbellsjc's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHey Sean,If you notice with SP2 there are three different weather depiction modes: Standard, Smooth Cloud Transitions and Direct Weather Control. If your prior build did not have these options, ASE was default Smooth Cloud Transitions and you can choose to turn on DWC. If you want that then choose "Smooth Cloud Transitions" or "Direct Weather Control" and your studders will go away. Phil

Visibility Issue after build 585 install
philn replied to flightwatch's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHi Cohort,I am one of the guys that had a visibility issue that when using visibility smoothing and DWC I would get ground visibility all the up through cruise altitude. This update fixed this issue for me. This was specific with FSX as far as I know. Try your flight without visibility smoothing checked and see what happens. As Jim mentioned, this may be an update only for FSX. Phil

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumWally,This is exactly my issue....as you can see from my prior posts. I have submitted my email to support. They are unable to reproduce this, but are looking at possible issues with FSUIPC settings that are beyond the obvious. I hope that they can find a solution to this.Phil

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumOk...nevermind. After reinstalling ASE i installed FSUIPC. When I started ASE and changed my settings (checking dwc and enable visibility smoothing) and loaded FSX from ASE the visibility actually worked correctly. Now, when I save the settings it messes the depiction up and the low visbility comes back. I then uninstalled ASE and then reinstalled and started ASE and FSX through ASE and didn't save settings and visibility depicted correctly. So each time i start ASE it has to start with default settings. I don't know why this works!?

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support Forumok..so for anyone interested....I removed fsuipc and ase. I reinstalled ASE (not FSUIPC) and the visibility smoothing worked correctly and no more 5-10 mile visibility at cruise. I then reinstalled FSUIPC and the low visibility came back at cruise. There has got to be an issue with FSUIPC not liking what ASE is trying to do with the visibility. Can anyone having this low visibility issue at cruise try to remove FSUIPC and ASE, then reinstall ASE and check to see if you continue to have low visibility at cruise??thanks!Phil

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumThank you for responding. The one great thing about ASE is the ability to smooth visibility. So why have this option if it can't be utilized. I would have stuck with ASX instead of spending the $50 to upgrade. Anyway, I am trying to work with Jim on this, but he has advised that no one else is experiencing this, so he and HIFI can't help. I need people who are having this issue to say something. This is the only way it will be heard by HIFI. Thanks! PhilJim, So this is 2 more folks experiencing what I am, including the one over in the HIFI forums. You have told me in an email that no one else is experiencing this. Do we need more people to have this looked at more in detail???Thanks!Phil

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumJim,Her are more pictures. The first one is at 30,000ft without "enable visibility graduation and smoothing" and you see the visibility sliders set and depicted correctly in fsx. Upper visibility was set at 90miles. The second picture is right after checking "enable visibility graduation and smoothing", you can see that the visibility went to 10miles at 30k. The pictures following the first two show what was depicted in FSX. Two show the visibility layers without "enable visibility graduation and smoothing" checked. you can see 2 layers..one up to 3100ft with 10 miles visibility and another from 3100 up to 91000 at unlimited visibility and visibility can be controlled via the visibility sliders in ASE. The final picture shows again what is depicted into FSX with "enable visibility graduation and smoothing" checked and not able to control through the visibility sliders in ASE.

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumHey Jim,I copied the file from ASE named cirrus_overcast03 over to the FSX textures. I am not using an ase snapshot. I tried something different. On the weather options screen in fsx i changed it from user-defined to clear skies under the the weather themes. All the weather cleared. Then a couple seconds later that visibility layer comes back from ground up to 91800ft at 10miles visibility. No other weather showing. No clouds, no winds, etc. Just low visibility. Could there be a bad connection between ase and fsx?? With "enable visibility graduation and smoothing" it just seems to force this low visibility, no matter what the weather. When this is unchecked, the visibility will be correct up to about 3-5000ft, then from there would be unlimited. From the section 5000 and up you can adjust the visibility sliders to whatever visibility you want it and it will be depicted correctly. I am dumbfounded that it won't work correctly with "enable visibility graduation and smoothing" checked.Phil

FSX Haze...still have it
philn replied to B777ER's topic in The AS16 and ASCA | Active Sky | Active Sky Next | XPAX Support ForumJim,I did have REX installed textures, but i removed them and reinstalled the original files. Then I took the cirrus overcast filed from ASE and copied it over to FSX textures. The above pictures are with the FSX original textures and the ase file copied over to the fsx textures. Would there be any other files/textures that may be overwriting it? My camera is charging....so i am waiting to do the video. Phil
