March 10, 201313 yr Now, I might be wrong, but I think that you should press the switch before rotating it from auto to ground in a real plane, but in the sim, it just rotates. Is the animation wrong? Vladimir Levkov / Владимир Левков Two miles of road can take you two miles. Two miles of runway can take you anywhere in the world
March 11, 201313 yr The start knob is spring loaded from ground to off, a solenoid will mantain it in GRD position if some conditions are met. It has not a detent, as you can see from the video it has something like a "ramp", when you rotate the switchs turn in, when it releases it will go out. So you don't need to push or pull (like on the IRS panel where detent position are necessary to prevent user errors) you only need more force to act on it. but, also in case you put inadvertitely on GND when engines are running the switch will immediately (if in good condition, and lubricated) to OFF. March 11, 201313 yr Author Yes, but the switch should pop out, and it just rotates to auto in the simulator... Vladimir Levkov / Владимир Левков Two miles of road can take you two miles. Two miles of runway can take you anywhere in the world
March 11, 201313 yr I don't consider this like a wrong thing basically because it is something that can be simply overlooked. However, yes, the real switch moves differently. Try to contact the team sending a support ticket, you are in time for SP2. But I don't know if they have interest in adding that animation that will add some hours of work. Regards Andrea Daviero
March 12, 201313 yr It maybe wrong but i see it doesnt matter, since we not watching the the correct operation of the switches but should be focused on the displays if the engines are running up ok with one finger on the cut off fuel switch. March 12, 201313 yr The 3d operation (so not only the rotation of it, but also the in-out) of the switch is something purely for rivet counters, not related with the switch simulation/operation. However the knob position must be checked in case START VALVE OPEN is present after the normal starter cutout speed (56%N2). In that case the starter failed to close and there are 2 possible reasons: -Failure of the valve -failure of the switch In the first case you must remove all bleed sources in order to protect the starter and stop the engine for a maintenance check. In the second case it is sufficient to move the switch to the OFF position and if there is no other problem the valve will close. The starter valve can be also operated on ground manually by a technician, this could be the solution in case of a failed starter valve and no spare parts avaiable. I don't know what failures the ngx simulates on that systems. Regards Andrea Daviero
