March 12, 201313 yr Hi, I noticed that from yesterday I can't start FSX. It loads up the splash sceen (With the FSX logo) and it stucks there and I must close it manually. I tried to delet the fsx.cfg file but it didn't change anything. Any ideas? tnx, Liam Liam K
March 12, 201313 yr Hi Liam, Have you installed any aircraft or utilities recently? I had this problem, what happened was the gauge security box (are you sure you want to install this? etc) is behind the splash screen, and FSX won't proceed until that question is answered. The fix is to open the task manager, click on the security app, click on "switch to" and the security box will now be on top. Hope that's the problem, as it's an easy fix, if you're not sure what I mean, post again. Eugene
March 12, 201313 yr Make sure MS Visual C++ 2005 w/SP1 is installed. You can check it in the Add/Remove Programs. Here is a link to the latest version - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=26347. You also want to make sure you have Microsoft.net Version 1.1 installed. You can check this by looking in C:\Windows\Microsoft.net\Framework X86\ then the various versions. Should have Versions 1.1 thru 4.5 installed. If you just installed a new scenery or aircraft, that may not be loading properly. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 12, 201313 yr Author I only installed the CS 777 and then completely deleted it. Beyond that nothing. There's no screen hiding behind the splash screen for me LOL. Liam K
March 12, 201313 yr You probably should have uninstalled the CS777 instead of deleting it. FSX is probably looking for the aircraft so it can check whether it is authorized to be installed (a security check). It could be looking for another file too. I would reinstall the cs777 and then uninstall it through the add/remove programs folder. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! March 12, 201313 yr Your not running SweetFX or similar, are you? I had a similar issue a few days ago and once I removed the SweetFX files and put in a fresh download copy all was fine. Interestingly I had just reinstalled the CS777 as well . . . Joe Joe Lorenc

March 21, 201313 yr I remember I had this problem some time ago: FSX getting stuck at the splash screen stage. In my case it was due to a corrupt logbook. There is a "FSX Logbook Recovery" utility by Daniel van Os right here in the AVSIM library which can fix it (if that was the problem). It looks like this is quite common.
