March 12, 201313 yr Hello, I have a few questions about FS RealTime: 1) When using FS RealTime on a networked pc only do I need to install it on the main FSX PC as well? (I surmise it should always be installed on the main pc first as I think it drops some bgl files in some folders, pls correct me if I'm wrong). 2) When FS RealTime is installed on the main pc it creates an area/layer in the scenery.cfg. Where is the right place of it in relation to the my addon scenery layers and the stock fsx layers? Thanks, Dirk.
March 13, 201313 yr FS Realtime comes bundled with a set of timezone replacement files. These should be used in a scenery area (which the installer will do for you). As long as it is located "above" the default BASE scenery area you are good to go. Note that those files handle DST by doing a file replacement, and the switch date is not current. You can text edit the ini file to set the correct switch date. Also some of the timezone boundaries are not 100% right. For example in the US Indiana changed its timezones (IIRC now most of the state is eastern time and both eastern and central regions observe DST). scott s. .

March 13, 201313 yr Is there an updated timezones? I have an update (replacement really) for North America in the library. I tried to make it accurate as possible (for example, Mexico border airports use US DST dates, not the same as rest of Mexico) I did another one that is just for (Western) Samoa which switched to observe NZ time/date. It is using the FSX sdk which allows for setting the DST switchover. I did Europe, but ran into some problems (I think it is a bug in FSX) and in trying to work around it I got so frustrated I had to put it aside. I need to have at it again as timezones in Europe need a bit of work. Note that default FSX only attempts to provide accurate timezone boundaries for US and western Europe. Also the timezone files with FS Realtime use FS98 sdk methods for defining timezones (nothing in particular wrong with that). scott s. .
