How good is this CPU for FSX ?

Featured Replies

Hello everyone , i am new to this forum and want to ask you a question which i believe the previous replies were about the question which i am about to ask.

I have

PSU : 730 W

Motherboard : Ga-ph67-ud3-b3

CPU : i5 2500 3.30 Ghz LGA1155

GPU : Sapphire r9 290 Tri-X

Ram : 8 GB 1333 Mhz

With these specs , I have also tweaked the Fsx.Cfg file , but somehow i am having sometimes out of memory and sometimes a error about the GPU which tells me to restart the fsx.

I believe my GPU is one of the best card in market which i bought last week. But i also know FSX is a CPU simulation. I am eagerly ask you , with these specs what must i do in order to fully fly without any having errors. Any chance to show me :use these specs and use this Fsx.cfg:

Thank you.

You should start a new topic instead of adding yr question here.

You will get a better response that way.

My short answer though, you are probably running windows 32bit, which means you only have 2gb of vas available to fsx, or 3 if you used a tweak.

Install windows 7 x64 and it will enable fsx to use 4gb vas and make the OOM's you are experiencing go away.

Hi everyone this is my third rig am building an since i couldn't find any videos on youtube of any simmers that uses this CPU for fsx i want to know how good this CPU is for fsx? The CPU is AMD FX-8350 Piledriver (Vishera) 4.0GHz (Eight Core) 32nm, AM3+ 8MB Cache

I notice from default it comes with 4.0 Ghz that mean less need in overclocking . Anyone have a clue how well this will work for FSX.?

By the way here is this new rig spec's

MOBO- ASUS M5A97 LE R2.0 AM3+, AMD 970, Cross Fire, SATA3, USB 3.0, HD Audio

CPU FAN - Corsair H80 Cooling Hydro, extra quiet Liquid Cooling System

GPU - GeForce GTX 680 4GB PCI EXpress 16X dual head, HDMI

Ram Memory- 16GB (2x8GB) PC14900 DDR3 1866 Dual Channel (high performance memory)

Hard Drive- 1000.0 GB Western Digital Green SATA3 6GB/s 64m cache

PSU- Corsair 750W ultra quiet ATX Power Supply, SLI & X-fire ready

Am right now assembly this new rig at the moment . Boy oh boy it is like a puzzle of a million pieces at my house right now . The reason why am building this new rig is not because of any issue with the current one that i have . No no no it is perfect , but i also work on audio production video editing an everything on my current rig is messy all over the place fsx stuff getting mix up with my music stuff. It happen to me in the past an i manage to put all my fsx stuff in one external hard drive . But now as i install addon on this rig an save video using fraps etc.... everything seem to be all over the place an fraps also takes up space when recording a video . So i made up my mind in building this rig. My main concern at the moment is the CPU, how well will it perform with FSX i know nothing compare to I7 Extreme Edition but hopefully it might work out fine. What do you guys think ?

I have the fx8350 overclocked at 4.5 GHz and its a good processor it has no issues with battlefield 4 or skyrim on ultra settings and it does well enough in Fsx If its a clear day at FSDTs KLAX I can get 22-25 fps on the ground with high settings and my traffic 2013 set at 20% in the PMDG 777, which is pretty good for the $189 I paid for the processor, but I plan on building a new rig built around the new i5-4690 soon. I will say if you plan on overclocking the 8350 get a good CPU cooler I run a h110 with fans in a push pull config and it keeps my temps good and low. Also with 8 cores I don't have the blurries issue in P3d v2 like some do once I set the affinity via task manager to use 7 of the 8 cores there isn't a blurry in sight. As software like p3d v2 advances it will take advantage of more cores I feel the unloved AMD's will be the kings of flight simming as AMD's muti-threading is miles ahead of Intel's. Which is why Im keeping my AMD rig aswell.

I hope that it work well .

The problem is the main tread in fsx , with that por Ipc of the Piledriver you get problem.

I have different rigs that i have tested in FSX with same settings.

The Amd CPU,s à have is FX-8350 and FX-9590 watercoled +5,1ghz compared to à Haswell 4670k or 4770k at stock speed the Haswell performs better.

À little offtopic did some Old school benchmarking single tread dx9 3DMark 2001SE.

Did the bench with same Gtx 670 result 4670K WC cooled at 5ghz 125k to the FX-8350 at 7,3ghz ln2 cooled 99k.

Has nothing agianst Amd they work great in multitread apps but FSX is different.
