I cannot see Fiumicino airport

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I cannot see the Fiumicino airport. I have reinstalled but nothing. I have recently installed the ISD-Project from Volovirtuale and ran good. I have in addition bgl from my world airport included in Skai Traffic. Everything was right until yesterday when I have tried to make a flight between LIRF to LEPA. The scenery is without Fiumicino airport. Show the photo

I was remember if I have made anything wrong but trying to fix the problem I have used AFCAD2. When appear LIRF and show me the list of AFCADs (AF2 files) first shows me "unknown" file and then Mod and Stock airports. The first file is an unknown file that I suppose is the file that cannot permit show the mod file. But I don't know where is this corrupted file or if is an error from flight simulator or even caused by a virus or other thing.

I have unistalled the AF2_LIRF from ISD project and I have left the bgl original files from FS9 but the result is the same, nothing. I have also observed when FS9 is loading the airport when the line showing loading progression of terrain, objects, traffic it occurs very quickly as if the program don't read data.

Any help I will appreciate

Thanks

open scenery.cfg (make a backup first) in notepad or wordpad. Search for the layer number as highlighted below and the path should be indicated as:

[Area.091]
Title=FRF-KDFWv3
Layer=90
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Local=..\..\..\CommonAddonScenery\FRF-KDFWv3
Remote=

Use the scenery.cfg file in your FS9 folder. Do not edit this file directly.

In my example my add-ons are usually installed in H:\CommonAddonScenery.

You may have more than one active layer for each ICAO code or scenery name as your AFCAD shows.

You can also download the freeware editor Airport Design Editor. You can then once you know the file location you can use File\Open Airport from BGL to see if it recognizes that file.

http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/

You can also use this free utility (FSUIPC not required) makerwys.exe and use its log file "runways.txt" after it is executed. You install it in your FS9 folder, execute it, and the open runways.txt in Word or Wordpad as it is huge.

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/

In your case search for "Airport LIRF" First you will find the default airport section directing you to default AP FS tile file it is in. Then keep repeating the search. You will find for each add-on a deletion section entry and a section with the runway data, etc. They may not be adjacent. The header of each section has a path entry to the scenery folder.

The last entry after no more Airport LIRF sections are found dominates the scenery priority. Sometimes these will be in the same folder. It is not perfect but something you can look at. Makerwys uses your scenery.cfg  to determine priority.

Here is a default airport section in part:

(I am not showing the taxiway information. Runway 9/27 was lengthened and an ILS was added. The scenery will be redone in ADE9 because ADE9 adds an approach layer for an ILS so FS9 ai can use it in instrument conditions, not done in AFCAD.)

This was the last section for Airport KANE at therefore at the highest priority. no deletions section follows.

open scenery.cfg (make a backup first) in notepad or wordpad. Search for the layer number as highlighted below and the path should be indicated as:

Even though it says "Layer" in the Afcad2 display, that number is actually the [Area.##], not the Layer=##.

And as your example shows, those two numbers are often not the same, nor do they need to be.

Joe

You should have AF2_LIRF_Full.bgl installed either in "Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\ISDproject - LIRF2005\AFCAD" which also contains all the airport scenery or in "Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Addon Scenery\scenery" which should only have the afcad file.

Check that you haven't unticked i.e. disabled the scenery in the sim.

A search in the AVSIM Library for ISD LIRF indicates several contributions including one from an ISD member, possibly more.

Any conflicts must be resolved. Some might contain more than just an AF2_ file. You can see the file contents with the library Zipdive and examine the readme documentation from that.

I think Giovanni is one former member. It is an AF2_ file replacement of the original dated December 2008.

It should also be noted that these replacement files might have been designed with a more complicated tool than AFCAD and might contain other library elements just being named AF2_ for ease of classification.
