Running 4.5Ghz and only getting 15 fps

Featured Replies

Hey all heres my issue I'm running a Fx-8350 at 4.5 ghz and at flytampa dubai I'm only getting 15fps in the NGX and worse in the captian sim 777 I know AMD isn't as fast as Intel but at 4.5ghz I should be getting better than this.

Heres my specs

Fx-8350 4.0ghz overclocked 4.5

8gb ram at 1866

2gb nivida 660TI FTW

windows 7

I'm using tweaks

Buffer pools

highmemfix

affinity mask 224

and all the others whats going on with my system?

also my settings are water effects none, autogen dense, scenery complexity full, mesh full, texture res full. Traffic 20 percent for GA/Airlines with my traffic 2013, No road or ship traffic. No Bloom or lens flare

My first suggestion is to read the AVSIM Software and Hardware Guide pinned at the top of this forum.  I think you need to review your setting for Affinity Mask.  Dense autogen is a FPS killer.  There is a tweak to limit the number of buildings/trees per cell. High display driver settings will bring down FSX too.

Best regards,

Jim

Affinity mask 224 means you're only using 3 cores on an 8 core chip. I'd suggest using 254.

Also, 20/20 traffic at a big airport with my traffic can burn a lot of FPS, I'd suggest GA traffic at 8 and Airlines at 16. That works for me at FSDT airports and I still have decent amounts of AI around.

Or better yet, Google Word Not Allowed's FSX/P3D Software and Hardware Guide. I can't link to it here because it was banned for some reason. Just know that the official Avsim guide mentioned by Jim above is only one approach. I've had better results with Word Not Allowed's guide and would recommend it over the Avsim guide, particularly for those who aren't interested in trying DX10 (which isn't supported by a number of addons, in any event). Word Not Allowed responds to individual inquiries on his blog and has created a very useful forum for optimizing FSX.

I have never used Word Not Allowed's, but since I knew where you could get it I posted the link.

I have always used the one by NickN, here is a link for Win7 and FSX.
