March 21, 201313 yr Has anyone tried the recently released PC-21 from iris ? How deep are the systems ? Is it also compatible with P3D ?
March 21, 201313 yr Moderator http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?262158-Iris-PC21 yes it is compatible but I have not personally tried it so cannot comment on systems. Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
March 22, 201313 yr Karim, I have about 10 hours in the Iris PC-21 and would be happy to discuss with you. What FSX sims do you consider "deep" systems? Henry My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
March 22, 201313 yr Author Hi Vic, Thx for offering your help: I thought I read somewhere that the PC-21 systems are a bit shallow. Would love your view on it. The PC-21 is a relatively new trainer, was wondering how good of a job iris did in replicating the flight dynamics and systems of the plane. There is not a lot of data out there on the plane available to the public. So far on fsx, in the military addon space I liked the vrs superbug. Best Karim
March 22, 201313 yr In terms of simulation of mechanical wear and aging (like A2A), there is none. In terms of cockpit procedures used for the actual aircraft, simulation seems to be very high. Most modern turbo trainers do not have complex start procedures or a lot of detail to worry with when flying the aircraft. In this regard the Iris PC-21 is modeled very well. The nav systems, the up front controller, and the FMC all are detailed and usuable. More than anything else, it appears to fly by the "book" (with the information publicly available). March 23, 201313 yr I've played around with it for a couple of hours now and I'm of two minds. I love the detail and appreciate the VC only approach. On my system it seems a little heavy on FPS but then again, it is a laptop so I expected that. The systems are nice but nothing along the lines of an ES CX 2.0 or anything form PMDG. The FMS, unless I'm missing something, doesn't do much other than provide options to configure the plane. I was not able to load a flight plan manually so I have to load flight plans from the FSX flight planner. Other than that, its a fun plane to fly and the textures are quite detailed. I've been waiting for this plane for months and, while a little overpriced in my opinion, it was worth the wait. One really annoying thing though, sometimes if I change views to outside then back to the VC, the oxygen warning tone starts playing. Press the test button and it stops. Weird... March 23, 201313 yr Chris, Have you installed the "performance gauges"? They are designed to reduce the FPS hit of the MFD's and on my system made a big difference. What version do you have installed? The latest 1.25 (I believe) installs compressed textures that also help the FPS. There is an option to turn off rendering of the rear cockpit using the "instructor" switch. This helped reduce graphic load on my system but might not on yours. Regards, the oxygen warning, believe the 1.25 update corrected this as well. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

I purchased and downloaded it on Friday from FlightSim Store. Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
March 23, 201313 yr @@SirStiggie For the gauge optimizer check under your FSX folder: ..\IRIS\Pro Training Series\Pilatus PC-21\Optimizers for the more frame rate friendly gauge installer. To get the install version, the surest way is to open the aircraft.cfg file. Version should be the 1st line of the file. In my case it shows "//V1.2" Version 1 came with full 4096/32 bit textures, but v1.1 and later have DXT textures as default and 32 bit as optional. I did confirm that the oxygen warning issue is gone from the version on my system. Here is the kb and change log for PC-21: http://www.irissimulations.com.au/sts/416640-Pilatus-PC-21-FSX If the version you have is not 1.2, contact Iris via their support system and see what they can do to get you the latest version. Hope this helps. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
