March 26, 201313 yr It has a lot to do with PMDG, specially for the 737 and upcoming 777 which sooner or later someone would like to paint it if they do change the livery. Fair enough.... I read in a statement from Doug Parker (US Airways current and American Airlines future CEO) that this new livery is the livery moving forward. Since the two companies have been talking since last summer and the livery came out in January it's hard to believe Parker didn't have involvement with coming up with it. I flew one in the new paint the other day. It was a cloudy rainy day everywhere we went and the plane just looked grey. None of the metallic part of it really showed up unless you got really close to it. Also walking up to it on the ramp with the jet bridge attached all you can see is the nose section which has no detail other than the sliver grey paint. It looks very plain. It is kind of the same looking at it from the terminal. I think they missed the mark on the shade. Well they missed the mark on all of it really. I liked the idea of freshening the livery coming out of restructuring, into a merger to sort of reinvent the brand and update their image but I agree, they certainly missed the mark. They had an opportunity to come up with something really cool but instead went the dull route. Maybe it looked much better on paper or in CGI land where there are no cloudy days??? Adam Hill

Nothing in the topic start post relevant to PMDG: I was looking at CSPAN this morning, where there is a hearing going on in Washington discussing the merger between American and US Airways. I wonder if the livery colors will stay the same for American, or will there be any hope of changing their rediculous paint scheme. Moved to hanger chat. OP Please read: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/379188-off-topic-posts/ We would ask all to please post only PMDG relevant things in the PMDG forums. We've had to move a ton of stuff from there continuously.
