Scenery question

Featured Replies

Hi. I've been away from simming for quite a while and this may end up being a stupid question, but here goes.   I have purchased the following scenery packages for FSX: MegaScenery Earth (Arkansas and Missouri), FSGenesis (World Terrain Mesh and U.S. Terrain Mesh),GEX (U.S.A., Canada, Alaska) and Ultimate Terrain X (U.S.A.).  Can all of these scenery packages be installed in FSX at the same time and I be able to choose which to use?

Thanks,

Jeff Smith

Yes and no.  You can choose to fly over Arkansas and Missouri anytime you want.  FSGenesis is terrain mesh and tells fsx what to render over it.  GEX is a replacement for your default textures and is not a scenery product.  It optimizes your default textures and provides better performance.  You will not see these textures over Arkansas and Missouri.  I'll let someone else explain UTX as I always get into trouble when I talk about this product but it will put roads where roads are located, rivers where rivers are located and several other things.  Again, you will not see this product in action whenever you fly over Arkansas and Missouri.

I would install GEX first.  Replace your default textures.  Run FSX and check it out.  Then you can install FSGenesis or UTX.  Makes no difference.  Then I would install Arkansas and Missouri.  After all is installed, run FSX and check it all out.

Best regards,

Jim

MegaScenery is custom terrain aka photo-scenery.  It will always take priority over GEX/UTX combo (except certain parts of UTX will create objects -- road traffic and night street lights).  You should be able to uncheck the MegaScenery entry in scenery library to restore display of REX and UTX in MegaScenery coverage area.
