April 7, 201313 yr Some time ago I found a tip how to fix the rain effect in FSX using a file called rain40.zip and it really has been a major improvement so thanks again to the author behind this fix !! I asked about it also in this thread -> http://forum.avsim.net/topic/398286-rain40-fix-only-for-dx10/ but unfortunately I never received any replies, does anyone know if there is some way to also fix the snow effect in FSX in a similar way getting rid of the very unrealistic and ugly "tunnel" effect and also make the look of the snow less intense in the same brilliant way the rain40 fix does this for the rain effect?
April 8, 201313 yr Not aware of anything....however, I`m sure if someone were to find a way to make a payware ``snowing`` with accumulations addon it would be a big hit. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
April 8, 201313 yr Author Well, since there was a way to fix the rain I was hoping something similar could be done for the effect of snowing but considering the low number of replies and that I haven't found anything myself I guess there isn't any way then.
April 8, 201313 yr Moderator I'd be interested to see if there was just a way to get the snow to fall slower. There is probably a tweak that could be made to the shader file(s) to do it but perhaps no one has tried it yet. Personally, if someone told me which shader file it is that would need tweaking to slow the effect I would be more than willing to fiddle with it. The "tunnel" effect I am not fond of, but can live with it, but the snow falling as fast as it is, is not too pretty. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
April 8, 201313 yr Author That is very true, having the snow fall more slowly would be a very nice improvement!
