April 13, 201313 yr Hi all, First real post here  I just recently bought FSBuild and RC. First I had problems with FSB because it would not find my .pln path and would not save the flight plan. I fixed that by forceing a path line on the fsb2.cfg. Now FSB seems to work correctly. The problem is now that any flight plan I save, when I load them up I get a "fatal error" and get sent to the main FSX panel. The only flight plans that work with RC (to a point) are the ones that are burnt into FSX, not the ones created by FSB or the FSX planner. So I try the burnt flight plan and yes I do se the RC msg window within FSX but cannot choose on the menu or hear anything. The RC msg window has options in red text and I have RC key assigenments (with added ctrl to each nº) since I use EZDock Cam and the nº 2 is used by EZD. So I don´t know if RC is really working or not. Any Ideas of what I might have done wrong? Actually my head is a mess after all this... Please shine some light on me! Thanks! Best regards, Mike
April 13, 201313 yr Hi Mike, I use FSB alongside RC and have not had any of your problems. What format are you using to export your FSX plans ? Under the FSB opening screen you will see an export button.Press and you will be given a list of export options.I have ticks against export to FS2004/FSX and another one at FSX(xml) and various planes on the list and my flight plans export to all files. Again in FSB under Folder items on the LHS you will see options, click this and when the window opens ,at the bottom you will see various buttons, select settings and another window opens. This window shows a large save settings button and to the LHS in a pane you will find a section headed with Aircraft in bold and Build in bold.Using the slide scroll down to the Export section and make your selections such as FSX GPS and your planes and then press the save config button. You should be good to go! Your keypress problems have been talked about on thr forum by other pilots. You can alter the keypress menu yourself.Open RC and on the first screen press keyboard and make new selections. You neeed to avoid keypresses in use by other programs.. Hi and thank you Norman! I did all that you suggested before the post, so that´s already done beforehand but thanks for your help any way Norman. I did try this... http://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?183550-Loading-saved-flight-plans-causes-FSX-Fatal-Error I didnt change my admin rights. I did change my logbook to old and re-did my fsx.cfg (with all my camara views lost now). Unisntalled FSinn and FS Copilot, don´t know how to get rid of Squakbox. Now I don´t get crashes (fatal error) but yet have a different problem. When I load a flight plan or a saved flight, my aircraft is NOT moved to destination airport! So it just stays in the main screen without doing nothing, like if I never loaded anything. Very frustrated again. Any help is welcome. Thanks again Norman! Best, Mike
April 13, 201313 yr It is your responsibility to have your aircraft parked at your departure airport with some avionics working before pressing the Start button in RC. If you get the transparent menu in RC with the red key assignments and functions and RC has not moved your aircraft you should be good to go. (I can show you later how to get white text if you wish.) Be sure for RC you do have a shortcut to it set up with its security property set to run as admin if on VISTA or Win 7. After installation you must install the current FSUIPC version 3 for FS9 or 4 for FSX from: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66139-updated-modules/ Install a full version followed by any update. Update makerwys.exe from: http://forum.simflight.com/topic/66136-useful-additional-programs/ Then run the scenery rebuild from within RC. See http://forum.avsim.net/topic/404880-pathfile-access-error/ for a description on how that process works. Then just try your FS version and just RC without any other add-on apps running. The keystrokes should run OK. Then you can test with one at app added at a time. Look for any keystroke conflicts. To change RC key assignments in RC without running FS just open the keyboard tab, change them, and close and restart RC so the changes take effect. Now if when pressing the start button in RC it moves your parked aircraft elsewhere it means that your flight plan departure airport location and RC's airport location (extracted from your scenery) have a difference outside of a value set in RC. If you have both FS9 and FSX then you should have installed RC for both versions and two separate RC folders have been created. When running the scenery rebuild for each RC installation be sure you do not confuse the FS paths when prompted so the correct scenery data is used for that FS vesion for the FS version RC installation you are running. Yes, we have had some posts where an aircraft was moved because the incorrect path was used in the rebuild. The scenery data for each FS version is not the same. I covered more than your original question preemptively just in case you experience these problems. One more tip about keystroke recognition. Some FMCs in complex add-ons by clicking in a hot area or a hot key combo let you input to the FMC from the pc keyboard directly. As long as this is active it will capture the key strokes preventing them from going to RC so be sure this is disabled before pressing START in RC. I also use FSB version 2.4. for FS9 although I also created a folder for FSX XML plans as well for diagnostics. I have not experienced any other problems. It is a good idea to alt-tab to see if any error messages are hidden by the various windows. Finally when using the RC menu, it must be the FS window that is in focus (hot/front), not the RC/FSUIPC blue window. If you do see an error box please reply with the error number. When setting paths in RC which uses the explorer type window do NOT cancel that browser but just complete it and press OK. You can tell if RC accepted a .pln file by looking at the main display. In the flight plan section your plan waypoints will appear. In the main panel controller section you will see the type of departure used and the below the frequencies for comms at each airport. (Press the Controller button to get a better display.)
April 14, 201313 yr Hi Mike, Go to your All Programs menu and find the Squawkbox entrey. You should see an uninstall item. Norman Bowman
April 14, 201313 yr Author Hi Mike,Go to your All Programs menu and find the Squawkbox entrey. You should see an uninstall item. Hi Norman,Thank you! I did delect SB (SquakBox) but I had to force it as the included unisntall didn´t work. Iam gonna clean my registry and see if that helps. Thanks again Norman, very kind of you!Ronzi,Thank you very much for your extended help!Iam a bit new to FSX, been flying it for about 3 months now and dcided it was time to do the some real flying, which to me means learing how to do flight plans and how to follow ATC. So I bought FSBuild (latest version) and Radar Contact, along with the latest Navgraph cycle (1304) and some charts from Navgraph for my add-on airports. I thought this would be the right way to do it and learn the right way from the begining. I also updated 3 of my aircraft with Navgraph (AIRAC) cycle (1304). But since I heard that FSX is not up to date with Navaids and magnetic variation, I also updated that with the following link...http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids.htmlI did the Magvar Data and FSX Navaids Update. Can´t say I didn´t do my homework. Since I bough FSB and RC, I cant say where my problems come from, along with the added Navaids update, and honestly this is all new to me.I can confirm that RC loads my flight plan done with FSB and I don´t use FS9, so I don´t think there is much of a problem there but I will follow your suggestions. I don´t own a full copy of FSUIPC I have the free version, but still I have downloaded recent version. Do I need a full version of FSUIPC to run RC?RC dose not move my aircraft, that´s not the problem. The problem is that I can not load a flight plan, done with FSB or the proper FS planner. When I load a flight plan being done with FSB or default planner it loads to screen, but when prompt to move my aircraft to (plan) airport location and I press "yes" nothing goes on, aim just back at the default FSX free flight screen. So I can´t load flight plans, I can only load saved game like " CS 757-200 cold-dark start-up" which was created by default when installed Capitan Sim 757-200 base pack. I have others created in the same way by other brand aircarft. On these saved game flights I CAN load RC, but cannot on created flight plans. So there´s no way I can load a flight plan right now. I hope you have more info now regarding my issue. Again, thank you Ronzi for your kind help! Any help is more then welcome!Best regards,Mike
April 14, 201313 yr Author Hi, Ok I have to say I was way confused with how the way FSX loads plans! Iam terribly sorry for making so many questions and I apologize for my ignorance. I was convinced that when a flight plan was loaded you pop-up on the flight plan departure airport (as in saved game), which is not true. The FS planner puts your aircraft on the flight plan departure airport on the free flight screen and not on the actual fisical airport. Very sorry for this, it´s my bad indeed! I can now happily look into RC and aim sure I will have some questions to ask here, thank you all very much for your patience, time and effort to guide me in the right direction. Again, sorry Ronzie and Norman! Ronzie, it would be nice if you could tell me how to change the text color of the RC pop-up screen once onboard. Thank you! Best regards, Mike
April 14, 201313 yr You do not need a paid version of FSUIPC to run RC. It registers the features it needs. As you found out do not let FSX move your aircraft when loading a plan into it. On any airport I use I create a flight with the aircraft at an appropriate parking area, clear weather theme, local time of day, and save it. You should do the same thing with the Baron or King Air default and save that as the default flight. That is used to initialize the components of FSX running in the background when FSX is loaded. Some aircraft need that procedure. This avoids having to load the Cessna or other aircraft first and then changing the aircraft as some add-ons require. Here's how to get white characters in the RC in-flight window: In the modules folder of FSX you will see FSUIPC.ini. Make a safe copy of that outside of FSX say in your documents folder. Now in your modules folder open FSUIPC.ini in notepad or one of the other editors you have. in the [General] section insert the line: WhiteMessages=Yes and save the file as FSUIPC.ini making sure .txt is not added and you saved in DOS text mode.
April 14, 201313 yr It is also a good idea to go into RC's main folder and copy rcv3.dat and keyboard.dat (once registered) to a safe folder outside of RC. That might avoid a reinstall in some cases. In setting your .flt/.wx path in RC that is where the flightplans are usually stored in your documents folder with the path you mentioned. In loading a new .pln into RC it starts where the last .pln path you browsed to but also including the actual .pln name stored in rcv3.dat. If there is an error with a missing last .pln or folder than you might have trouble starting RC getting error 62. In that case copy your safe copy of rcv3.dat back into the RCv4X folder in your case just to get you up. If you move FSX as you state be sure on your next scenery build you use that new path. With an FSX move you'll have to go through the scenery library settings and use the new locations so the library setup puts the path in scenery.cfg especially for anything in add-on scenery or the default scenery. When finished do a scenery rebuild in RC just to insure the scenery.cfg paths are correct as that guides makerwys.exe for paths and priority. Here for your curiosity is what a scenery entry in scenery.cfg looks like for a default: [Area.006]Title=Eastern EuropeLayer=6Active=TRUERequired=FALSELocal=Scenery\EURERemote= Those paths that do not start with a disk letter are under your FSX folder so those will not change but if not a default will have to be added back with a new install of FSX. Another item that will change with an FSX move by reinstall is the registry entry for your FSX location. After your reinstall use this free registry checker/repair tool from this page at flight1.com: http://www.flight1.com/view.asp?page=library This should be checked as when you reinstall the update for FSUIPC it will first check the registry for your FSX location. You will also need to reinstall makerwys.exe into your FSX folder.

Regarding start up of FSX, I use the Flight 1 safe start exe for complex aircraft which loads automaticly, so I guess aim cool there. I then load the aircraft I wanna use from the pull down menu and then load my flight plan. Everything seems to work well now! I got the white text showing and my keystrokes work and RC gave me a Wx report when asked, which I don´t know if it´s normal that ATC repeats it every now and then. One little issue that I did come across was in heading variation... My flight plan is from LEBB to LEDA (short route to test things), from LEBB my first waypoint is LUKEP which on my onboard G1000´s flight plan is at 119º 7.6nm, but on the RC screen shows 125º 8nm, all this at ramp start, so as you can see there is a difference. Any Ideas? Iam using the Flight 1 Cessna Citation Mustang. On this sentence (above post) I don´t know what you mean Ronzi... In setting your .flt/.wx path in RC that is where the flightplans are usually stored in your documents folder with the path you mentioned. Again thanks Ronzi, you have been of great help, and again except my apologies for my poor knowledge with FSX till date. Iam doing my best to get the grip on this, doing alot of reading. Good care, Mike
April 16, 201313 yr FS stores the .flt, .wx., and .pln files in the same folder in your user tree for documents and settings. When you set the .flt/.wx path in RC that would be the same folder you browse to for for your flight plans.

I did not have time to move the plane to the RWY 12 threshold but the fact that the GPS and RC agreed indicates that RC is operating correctly. (I use FS9 by the way). The fact that between the ramp and the airport center and threshold are in different locations might make a difference and LUKEP is close to the airport. Here is the screen shot with the S340B with RC running parked at gate 4.
