April 21, 201313 yr First XP10 went 64 bit, and is progressing at the pace that a growing user community allows / asks it to. I do not use it any longer, but it's nice to see one of my preferred flightsims of 2012 finally showing it's potential, and it certainly has a lot of potential! DCS World is about to go 64 bit only - until 1.2.3 allowing for installations on both 32 and 64 bit OSs - and 1.2.4 will bring some interesting updates and a new helicopter, the mighty UH-1H, then other 3pd add-ons will come, as well as a revamped scenery engine. This is certainly Good News for a simulation platform that offers simply the most perfect and advanced flight and systems (military) models available for the PC. Then, yesterday A2A announced that they're working together with AOPA and RedBird Simulations on a new simulator for GA. For someone, just like me, used to the top qualkity they put into their add-ons, this can only be very good news as well :-))) And, on the text today linked at AVSIM's Prepar3d Unofficial forum we can also have some insight into the future of LM Prepar3d, a platform I use together with DCS and is providing me with a wonderful simming experience, smooth like I never was able to "fly" in FSX waters, and allowing me to re-use all of my best add-ons, such as A2A's p51d and b377 COTS, RealAir's SF-260 and Beech Duke, Aerosoft's A320X, PMDG's 744x and recently the great 737 NGX, Flight1's pc-12. As the song goes... "The future's so bright I gotta to wear shades!!!" April 21, 201313 yr Yep, 2013 or early 2014 is gonna be great for us sim-whores! And I just got the mod that allows you to fly the F16 in DCS, it handles as expected :-) Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 21, 201313 yr Author And I just got the mod that allows you to fly the F16 in DCS, it handles as expected :-) ;-) Where did you get it from? April 21, 201313 yr Try here, though these planes only have the mig 29 pit. It ain't the pit that hits you though, rather the handling. I just did my best landing in any sim http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=97556 Simmo W, Melbourne, Ozhttp://www.youtube.com/user/id5556
April 21, 201313 yr jcomm, we missed you in the xp10 forums :( :cray:  :Just Kidding: xp10 has improved a lot, maybe you can fly it again when it's 100% complete. A new 64bit heli was released this week for xp10 that could kick your DCS helis rear

For someone, just like me, used to the top qualkity they put into their add-ons, this can only be very good news as well :-))) I wouldn't classify this as a "new simulator". The "AOPA Jay", which is specifically mentioned, simply uses addons, basic hardware and a custom configuration packaged with a licensed copy of P3D. Basically a pre-configured P3D with computer and basic controls, intended to be a more turnkey solution for the RW pilot who doesn't want to have to deal with the ins and outs of sim configuration and interfacing. It is not, BTW, an approved basic training device. (Edit: with A2A's upcoming Cherokee and 172 projects, this seems a natural partnership for this kind of device.) Redbird's more sophisticated sims I believe use ESP as the back-end. Don't get me wrong - Redbird clearly has some very nice products for flightschools, but while I'm sure the A2A partnership will be a good thing for AOPA/Redbird's customers, it's really not based on anything new as far as the base sim technology is concerned.
