September 30, 200421 yr Lazy, sloppy, whatever you want to call it, to have a quality payware package, that has the same voice package as the 727, which I have, and I really like, is sloppy.I just wonder what else slipped through testing.Dan.
September 30, 200421 yr Active Camera is your friend let you zoom in and out with ease :)But I want a virtual cockpit that looks like the real thing and that the CS 727 does better. I agree it isn
September 30, 200421 yr Haha I believe that it does Paul but hey who am I to say a word ;-) Great plane. But even that does not give you the crvm perspective like here http://library.avsim.net/sendfile.php?Location=AVSIM&Proto=file&ImageID=71086 Which I believe ALL larger aircraft should have for landings-taxi etc. Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. October 1, 200421 yr Well, just my two cents, but I have a 19" monitor, and run at 1024x768, and I have no trouble reading any of the gauges. 8.1 EPR? No problem. Nor is the aircraft tough on framerates - it's the same as the CS 727, at least for me. I haven't tested the voice sound package, except for the pushback chat, which I like, although it gets a little confused if you happen to stop and start again. So far, the only problems I have are that the Nav 1 radio will not show on the DME, and the autpilot pop-up when used in the VC doesn't always seem to work entirely - the pitch-up/pitch-down knob doesn't do anything. The exterior engine sounds are absolutely great, right on the money. In all, I think this is an excellent package. If someone can get the CIVA INS to work in it, as apparently it can (although, as of writing, no has succeded yet), it'll be fabulous.Mike F.
October 1, 200421 yr I think VC's are the most over-rated feature I'v ever seen. I wish the makers would just stop wasting their time. Frame rate killers at the best of times. They dont add to the realism at all. So why bother?
October 1, 200421 yr I think many would disagree with you.I have just started to fly the PMDG NG from the VC, and the improvement in immersion is massive, it feels so much better than looking at a "stiff board" 2D panel, plus with AC2004 you get head movement to which is very good. When VC's are done right they are great. The 2 camps, VC and non-VC, will never see eye to eye though ;)Dan.
October 1, 200421 yr I havn't got the PMDG products yet. Evidently they ARE good. Up until I get it though, I dont like em! For GA a/c they're handy. Either way, is good that they're optional like PMDG's products evidently are when you install.Jonno.
October 1, 200421 yr I pre-ordered the CS727 when she first was released. I was so disappointed with the 727 ( panel gauges un readable ) that I've not even logged 3 hrs in it! So I now save my money for PMDG and Dreamfleet airliners. I've also past on purchasing PSS products. I just find they don't compete well enough against PMDG.
October 1, 200421 yr >I noticed (at least from the pics) CS didn't model the>classic black exhaust smoke you always see when the 707 takes>off... It's weird to see the pics without the black smoke... As I understand it (I have not played with the settings myself) there are instructions in the 727 FAQ on how to make the smoke blacker. CS says this can be done for the 707 as well. The problem, as CS says it, is that different video cards all render the black smoke differently, so it is difficult to put the effect in the package right out of the box.
October 1, 200421 yr >I liked the 727 a lot, but found the small gauges difficult>to use in real navigation. Before I plunk down for the 707>can someone tell me if there is some way around this, like a>pop up magnified window or something? Not magnified views, but you can enable the digital output for each display by hitting the .1 key in the ..err..view panel in the lower left corner. It puts a small digital read out in each guage for easy viewing. Not "realistic," but a usuable work around for my tastes. Hope this helps.
October 1, 200421 yr >Lazy, sloppy, whatever you want to call it,Or, a market decision. Perhaps the sound effects weren't ready and they went ahead with release to make their creditors happy? Who knows. The sounds are obvious enough and the beta testing big enough that some how I doubt this slipped through. Seems more pre-meditated business decision than a QA issue. These aren't show stoppers and many may never use them anyway. Seems like every major release has bugs. How well they are addressed is the important thing. >to have a quality>payware package, that has the same voice package as the 727,>which I have, and I really like, is sloppy.>>I just wonder what else slipped through testing.>>Dan.
October 1, 200421 yr Anyone got a URL for this 707? Am nosey and want a look!Sounds like a nice package although letting a previous soundset slip through to this model is not good.Am getting increasingly tired of some payware developers charging for their products without testing them properly first (ie releasing patches within weeks of initial release - if it aint right dont sell it!)What are the 707 sounds like? Hope they are awesome - just like the real thing used to be when it thundered over my house on approach to Heathrow!RegardsAdam
October 1, 200421 yr The link is:http://www.captainsim.com/I think the sounds are done very well. The more I fly this bird the more I am enjoying it. It takes you to another time and era then the PMDG planes. I am sure that captain sim is working to fix the bugs like they have done on other projects. I have to disagree with the VC comments. It is the VC with Active camera that brings the feeling of flight for me. It would not be near as enjoyable with out them. I can't fly with out it.
October 1, 200421 yr It's the difficulty reading the RMI that bothers me the most. The rest I could forgive, but I tune the RMI to a VOR off to the side of my course so I can see (or COULD see, if it were big enough) when I am intercepting a specific radial for a given intersection.Flight 1 did a great job with the Iron Knuckes DC-9. It has a magnified navigation instrument view. There was a lot of discussion in the Captain Sim forum about the difficulty in reading instruments, and at one point Captain Sim even said it would "consider" modifying the 727 panel to address the issue.I'll have to look on the 727, but I don't recall if the RMI had a digital readout. There is a similar issue with the CIVA INS. CIVA INS changes the heading bug, but the way the 727 (and maybe the 707, I don't know) handles the autopilot, the CIVA INS cannot do that. I would think the target audience for classic airliners would be exactly those people who enjoy hand-flying by instruments and otherwise navigating according to the way it used to be done. (Otherwise we'd all be flying 737-800s and Airbusses.) I am mystified why an issue from the 727 would not be addressed in the 707.Perhaps people who actually fly by the navigation instruments are such a neglible minority the developer feels it makes little business sense to cater to their peculiar desires. Or maybe the beta-testers just have better eyesight than I do!
