So what's the general opinion of the A330 by Black Box Simulations?  There seems to be a lot of mixed opinions about it.  The price seems reasonable but the VC is not up to standard of some recent offerings and I don't really feel like paying for an unfinished product.

 

If the results were overwhelmingly positive i'd buy it but I'm seeing a lot of criticism and BBS seems to be hiding the VC (ie no video available).  Who sells a new addon with no video marketing?

 

For now this is a pass unless someone can convince me otherwise.

I have it. It's not complete, yet. They're making significant updates to the sytems and over all they work well. However, there a few other things they need to fix.

 

- Graphics: Here's where I am NOT contented. We are in 2013, and I expected much better graphics than what they've done. Overall it's nice but if you demand high quality texures as the AXE, PMDG 737, or LanAir, then this does disappoints. However, the graphics are much better (by far)than Wilco's and the lighting in and out are very well done- Nice ! But agian, the textures look too simple and you can clearly see no efforts were done to match AXE nor 737ngx 9comparing the texure differences). Maybe (and just maybe) we have been spoiled by AXE and PMDG.

 

-- SpeedBrakes: I requested to them (seems like a 100 times) that they fix the "Dramn" Speedbrakes Effectiveness but at Update 0.65 it has still not been fixed. This makes me very angry as I want to be able to slow down this heavy a/c especially when descending to nearing approach. And, currently when you're flying and you deploy the speesbrakes, the a/c just giggles at you, and keeps flying at the same speed. Fix guys-- Fix it ! I have even tried modifications with AiED but makes no difference. Please fix it !

 

I will set my expectations for a fixed and complete product. I AM VERY BIG AT SUPPORTING DIVERSE DEVELOPERS; however, if you fail to listen and make necessary vital corrections, your product WILL end-up in the trash can- as I've done with CS, Virtavia Globemaster, SR-71 Blackbird, Wilcos, Airsimmer, TRI 1011, Accusim, Level D 767 and a few others others.

Its my understanding that because the buses are similar across the board, that its easier to develop both at same time. Time will tell if this proves fruitful. 

 

I have it. This is my first airbus as im not really a fan, but thought I would try airbus logic. I wouldnt say its Wow, it blows you away or anything, after all it is at version .065 or something. But ive flown a few flights with it. The FDE seems reasonable for the most part with some strange exceptions as noted above. The external model actually looks pretty darn good with alot of animation functionality. Ive had some issues with it and VNAV making big dives of 6000 fpm at time but not always. Im not sure if its pilot error or not, but it seems fairly straight forward. Different than  boeings but the principle is the same. 

 

The only other issue ive had that stands out is my fuel burn seems astronomical. I use fuelplanner.com for the fuel and add another 20000 lbs reserve and then depending on headwinds or not Ill add more fuel. Even then it burns up fuel like crazy like i have a fuel leak. EFOB changes 30-40000lbs even with a tailwind and ive run out of fuel. 

 

Other than that it flies and functions well. I think that the devs making frequent updates and caring about user feedback will make a big difference if this goes far.  So far I have not heard to what level they plan on taking this. Judge accordingly.

Pass I own one now that is so slow to update I wonder if they exist sometimes. You couldn't buggy whip me into buying another uncompleted project with hopes of them finishing it in a timely manner. 6mos to a year is far more time for development of a product. Nuff said, My dang blood pressure just went up. Cpt out. Before I start to scream!

Pass. I was quite certain I was going to regret purchasing another unfinished add on for FSX but the desperation for a decent heavy bus drove me to the other side in this case. 

It's good to look at (externally) and that's about it. Systems are still unfinished (that's probably a given since they do mention version 0.6547239121...), interior probably matches up to Wilco in my books (might have something to do with the original Airbus flight deck design philosophy). They do push out updates which then need hot fixes as they don't completely test out their updates (or so it would seem).

If you really want your moneys worth, wait till they reach version 1.0, wait for the reviews to pop up here AND THEN go ahead and purchase it.
