SSD Install+Cloning

Featured Replies

I have tried to do a search but nothing shows up, so can anyone with the experience, kindly advise.

Just bought a Samsung 840 PRO 256Gb SSD. Using Samsung's own 'Samsung Magician', cloned my existing SATA hard drive where my Win 7 Pro OS and FSX sit. I've set the SSD as AHCI as recommended by Samsung; set it as the first boot device, but am not too sure if the OS is booting off the SSD or the HDD as I see two Windows installations when I go from POST. I'm running critically low on the HDD and would like to run FSX and the OS off the SSD. If somebody can kindly guide me to set this up, I'd be grateful.

Thanks.

If in BIOS you set the boot device to your SSD and set that to first boot priority it should be booting off the SSD.

You can unplug your HD from the MB SATA port and then turn on the PC.  If you boot into windows then you are booting off your SSD.

After that plug your HD back in and boot into Windows then rename the Windows folder on your HD to to something else.  Turn off the PC and turn it back on, if you boot into windows your SSD is working fine and the Windows on your HD is not required.

If you want some help getting rid of Windows on your HD to to OCN and they can help.

Just when I thought I was up a creek with this one and I'd get no help, thanks very much for your kind assistance. Will do as suggested.

Just to let you know many license, that check the HD, will need to be reactivated like F1, PMDG and so on without the need of reinstall all the software.
