July 9, 201312 yr I forced it. here is my settings.txt (I think this is the correct one) My graphics card is GTX580, I run in 1900x1200x32 and use both full screen and windowed mode. The only thing I find hard when using SFX is using either DXTORY or FRAPS to recod video, which, due to the post-processing going on, records slideshows (c. 8-10FPS) best jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 9, 201312 yr I am very sorry but your settings are hardly noticeable from default... Wrong file, sorry. But tp be honest, I expect mine will be very different from yours. I don't use a lot of the settings, but Im going to use yours for testing. Here's my correct file JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 9, 201312 yr Your settings file works fine with my setup. I can go from windowed to full screen with no issues. Your setup is not so similar. I use GTX580 and Windows 8 Pro. Your error log is telling you it cannot create an effect from a particular directory. I have a SweetFX folder within the FSX folder as well as my SweetFX base files. Do you have this? Look here, post #161 (assuming you are using SMAA) JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte

Your error log is telling you it cannot create an effect from a particular directory. I have a SweetFX folder within the FSX folder as well as my SweetFX base files. Do you have this? Look here, post #161 (assuming you are using SMAA) I had a rar for sweetFX which contained SweetFX(Folder), d3d9.dll, d3d9.fx, dxgi.fx, injector.ini ,shade.fx, SweetFX readme, SweetFX_preset and SweetFX_Settings. All I did was extract them in FSX folder.. Am I doing something wrong?
July 10, 201312 yr It doesn't sound like it, no.I'm sure you've done everything right. I'm certainly no expert, but it just worked for me. Which version of SweetFX are you running? Have you tried using the GUI configurator? When FSX starts, you can turn SFX on and off ok? JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
July 10, 201312 yr Yup, don't worry we will find a cure some day. What we should do is try to get the attention from the original creator of sweetfx with his help maybe we might find a fix for this problem . What mr340 says is the best way, I reckon. They are very helpful over on the Guru3D forums and the guy(s) who wrote and refined it are over there quite a lot. I'm a bit tied up at work today but try downloading and running the GUI and version 1.3 (I think I run this) of SweetFX, if you aren't already running it. I'll do some more testing tomorrow best jake JAKE EYREIt's a small step from the sublime to the ridiculous...Napoleon Bonaparte
August 1, 201411 yr Hi friends,Sorry to reopen this thread but I think it ran out of answers or solution.I am having the same problem.I use full screen with three monitors, a GTX 780 card, and the last level of the nvidia drivers and version 1.3 of sweetfx.I am amazed with the effects so realistic that I managed to sweetfx, but as I say, after one or two hours of flying, and make a return to simple screen, fsx simply closes without any error message. Please, someone has found a way to fix this error?
