Win 7 x64 FS9 registry entry missing?

Featured Replies

Hi everybody

Finally bit the bullet and built a flash new PC, SSDs and all. New Win7 x64 Prof install, new FS9.1 install on a separate SSD and am currently in the process of reinstalling a mountain of sceneries. I had a few issues reinstalling some sceneries, and when you go into the scenery library via FS9, the location is defaulting to my Win7 documents folder, and some auto installers aren't finding the FS9 directory. I had a look for the FS9 registry entry but couldn't find it. Tried the F1 repairer, but still no good, although some posts do indicate that the repair tool doesn't work in x64 systems.

Could some kind soul please let me know where their registry entry is, and maybe even let me know what is in it if I have to enter it manually? I just know that many of my heavy duty planes will not be happy at all if the registry is not as it should be.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks Robert, but I'm not sure the Flight1 repair tool works for X64 systems.

Hmmm, found mine at

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator\9.0

And it's contents are

Default                REG_SZ             (value not set)

FIRSTRUN           REG_DWORD    0x00000001 (1)

Does this look alright, and my problem lies elsewhere?

Thanks!

I have that one too.

Did you look at the key I gave you?

Kinda weird - I had the problem a while back, and the repair tool worked fine for me, and I have W7 64x.

Yup, once I had a closer look (the HKLM bit threw me for a sec :) ) it's there. The EXE path is set right, so I guess it's not the problem. Live and learn!

Is there a config file lurking within FS9 that tells the system where scenery.cfg is? Can't seem to find it myself. If it helps, these dramas started when I installed an old legacy Fly-Tampa scenery. I can add scenery OK, but each time I have to change from my Documents folder > E: > FS9, and do it manually. When you've got around 400 sceneries to do, it becomes a bit of a pain!

The scenery.cfg is, always was, always will be in the root FS9 folder.

Not sure what this means. Are you are referring to having to navigate to that folder when adding scenery, or actually moving files around?

When you hit the 'add scenery' button in the library, the 'explorer' box defaults to my documents folder, instead of E;\F9\addon scenery folder.
