May 15, 201313 yr Great post and discussion, Krister. At first, half a dozen products came to my mind; but when I considered the true essence of a paradign shift there is actually only one for me ;- TrackIR investing in it, marked the end of "looking at panels" (whether 2D or VC) and a static "PC in front of your nose" experience, and the start of experiences that put me in to the cockpit......
May 16, 201313 yr Before I say mine, a bit of background: the very first flight sim I bought was for the Timex Sinclair (yeah ... I'm in my 50's, okay? ); my next was Flight Simulator for the Commodore 64. So ... one of my first lasting memories of flight simming running subLOGIC Flight Simulator II on an Amiga for the first time. The graphics were amazing for the time: runways with markings! Wow!Another: Pilot in Command for 767 ... my first real sim for Flight Simulator 2000.Yet another: Aerowinx Precision Simulator 767 ... this one taught me all about packs, FMCs, and proper procedures. Finally: Track IR. Bought it a couple of years ago for FSX and changed the way I sim. Forever. I can never ever go back to 2D cockpit. Joel Murray @ CYVR (actually, somewhere about halfway between CYNJ and CZBB)
May 16, 201313 yr Well FS9 had some really fun addons, I enjoyed them for years. So many to list, most that I wish would be remade for FSX. Dreamfleet 727, Ready for Pushback 747, a lot of sceneries too like Swedeflight. But for FSX, I see myself using this sim for many more years! These addons I cannot fly without Ultimate Terrain Ground Environment FSGensis Mesh Activesky 2012 FS Real Time FSUIPC FSBuild TOPCAT And the airplanes: PMDG 737NGX PMDG 747X Majestic Software Q400 Carenado C208 Reality XP avionics Plus a lot of scenery, FSDT, Flytampa, Aerosoft, Simmarket. So many! All these addons together make such an enjoyable experience, even better than FS9.
