Titan video card

Featured Replies

I am debating whether or not it is worth the $1,000 upgrading to a Titan video card. Has anyone here upgrading from a higher end card (580 and above) and had a significant performance increase flying the NGX with the titan? Thanks your input is well appreciated!

FSX is CPU dependant, not GPU dependant.

So no, spending that amount of money won't have a significant increase in performance when you spend it on a GPU.

At least, not over the GTX580.

That's what I figured. I would still probably have the same frame rates, however they probably wouldn't take as much as a dip when flying in HD clouds, etc. If anyone has in fact observed a difference in performance let me know. I have read some post where people have detailed an average FPS increase of 10-15, but they didn't provide much details of their benchmarking, i.e. I could take of from KLAX with clear weather and my FPS would be 10-15 more if I had real-time weather loaded. Plus, I am running a single 1920X1080 Full 1080P monitor, I think the Titan may be overkill for a single-monitor set-up.

Just get the fastest 4gig 680 you will be happy I have a titan its a bit faster but the price was not worth it IMOA - I will tell you you are missing out not having a 4gig 680 they are very nice - buy evga they are awesome bought other brands they seem to get tired over time.

Richard is right.  But if one day you buy a Sim that's GPU Hungry like XP10.........then the Titan will run it at max with 1000000000000000000fps   :P

I'm already running two 580's 1.5gb in Sli, I been reading that far out-performs a single 680. Considering one 680 cost as much as a 580, I'm going to have to lean to that opinion.

LOL FIVE  :clapping: You are defiantly the poster child for XPLANE  Your having way to much fun

FYI Dave sli is not efficent - does not work the same as 1 power house card at least that what everyone has been saying

I agree on SLi especially with FSX. A single powerful card is far more effective, its just hard to get good benchmark comparisons because FSX itself doesn't use Sli in an efficient manner.

Yes there is a reason there is no info on it because the story sli does not work in fsx so 90% of simmers never bothered with it to much of a pain for no gain lol anyway brother get yourself a EVGA FTW GTX680 I just sold it kind of thinking I shouldn't have oh well I am here at work paying for it right now, dont get me wrong titan is a faster card but not that much faster so try to give you a bit of help anyway good luck.

Do GPUs help with multi-monitor set ups?

Well now the PMDG is all 3D cockpit, I guess you don't need multi screen set ups.

But just wondered any way.

Well I sold my 580's intending on getting a titan, however many store have not only sold out of the titan, they have removed it from their systems. I was told that in a few months Nvidia's 700-series would be released and that no more titans would be sold in anticipation of the 700-series release. With my luck, the 700 series was released the next morning (780 GTX). Its a 3gb version of the Titan and I bought it. It is phenominal and blows the 580's in sli out of the water.  $650 retail.
