Help With QW757 FPS issue

Featured Replies

Hello all. Me again with another FPS issue. The QW 757 is performing a bit poorly on my rig right now. I did some additional tweaking that brought the FPS up a bit to about 12. But, that is still stuttery and hard to fly. Do you fine folks have any suggestions? I have tweaked following most of the guide on this site and it works well with every aircraft even in Orbx scenery on medium high settings. I stay at 25FPS out of a target of 25FPS most of the time, but the QW seems to cut that in about 1/2. All suggestions appreciated.

Are you sure its the airplane? I have had no issues with the same plane.

Yes, I am positive it is the aircraft. Everything else maintains 25FPS, but this one is about 12. It is pretty much unflyable.

And I should mention that I did apply some tweaks that the manual suggested. They really did not help. The aircraft is unflyable. I have SP2 installed. Whatever tweaks I try, they do not work. I have tried pretty much everything. This aircraft shoudl run fine on my rig, but it does not.

Weird, I've never had any FPS problems with QW 757.

What are the other planes you're comparing the 757 to? If they're more or less default level, they'll definitely have only little(if any) influence on your FPS, although I have to say that the QW 75 has never given me bad FPS (except for Seattle area, but that's most likely to be the area and not the plane!).

Interesting.  This is the most fps friendly aircraft in my hanger.

@FloG: I am comparing it to several Carenado models, Dino's T-45 and F-35. They all perform substantially better. I did some gauge tweaks last night that brought the fps to a minimum of 12, maximum of 16, but it is still not very flyable. I have tested in numerous airports, DEN, PAKT Orbx, SEA, PAE, LAX, MSP,  DFW, ORD. They all perform about the same, Orbx is about 1-2 less.

Then big difference in FPS isn't really a surprise as all of the aircraft you listed are way smaller, thus there are less textures and such to load. Also at least the Carenado ones aren't even nearly as complex in terms of systems either.

Compared to other airliner addons with same complexity QW 757 performs just as well as the others.

Try lowering your settings when you fly with QW 757 and other similar big airliners.

I also compared it to the F-35, which has a full glass cockpit. And I forgot to mention that some of the Carenado's are HD. I am also comparing it to the default 737 and 747. Regardless, it does not really matter what it is being compared to, is there anything I can do to get the fps up?

You could try some tweaking, lowering FSX settings while flying QW 757 or upgrading your computer, that's about it.

Well, I have tweaked extensively and it works for every plane but the QW. Since you seem to be a developer over there, do you have any tips that might help beyone what you said above? I do not want to lower settings lower than they are. I am upgrading in a couple months, but I would like to fly the QW between now and then.

Well I'm into scenery developing and not any way related to QW team, thus I'm afraid I don't really have that many tips...

Only thing I can think of is this line in aircraft.cfg:

TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=

I had FPS problems with Wilco 737 once, setting it to 4096 seemed to help a lot. Currently I have it set to 2048, I guess you could try and see if changing it to either of these settings would help, I think by default it's set to 1024 which you could try too depending what's the setting you are currently using.

  • Author

Oh alright. Thanks. I currently have 1024 set, so I am not sure how 4096 would help performance? It would seem that it would hurt perfromance? By the way, if you don't mind me asking, who do you develop scenery for?

I have tested in numerous airports, DEN, PAKT Orbx, SEA, PAE, LAX, MSP, DFW, ORD.

Those are all quite detailed airports, hence probably more demanding than others are. Depending on possible AI traffic, FPS can drop significantly! Here's what I do to figure out whethter performance problems are due to only an aircraft or the combination of scenery, traffic and aircraft: I load up the plane in question at SCIP Mataveri airport somewhere in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, which has two major advantages, because it is very far away from any other airport: Nearly no traffic that influences FPS, and very little scenery to load, leading to short loading times. If your performance problems exist at this airports, the aircraft might be the cause, if not, try lowering your scenery settings at the regarding airports.
