May 19, 201313 yr Surprised no one mentioned this--happened last night. No injuries: http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/05/18/18340087-plane-makes-belly-landing-at-newark-airport-no-injuries-reported?lite Regards, John
May 19, 201313 yr My plane landed a short time before at 12:30AM. As I waited for downstairs in front of the terminal to be picked up, I saw quite a number of ambulances and fire trucks racing to terminal A. I didn't know that local fire departments responded to these events, but I guess that they have EMTs and can provide lifesaving equipment. I was wondering as we approached from the north why we were giving such a wide berth to Newark, they also started the descent fairly close to the airport. I guess they were staying away to give Captain Powers space to do what we needed to do. Glad to see everyone is safe and sound.
May 19, 201313 yr I love the picture of the crew with the aircraft in this article. They all look like a bunch of happy campers after a pretty eventful flight. Well done! Daniel Walton
May 19, 201313 yr Moderator Kudos to the flight crew for a terrific landing. Since there was no danger of prop strike and no engine damage, that airframe will probably be airworthy again in a few months. Fr. I learned while watching the video in my link that a LOT 767 also pulled off a magnificent belly landing in Poland in 2011. There's at least two good youtube videos of the event. The pilots on the LOT flight had quite a bit of experience in the 767. John
