May 26, 201313 yr Was doing a flight from Newcastle down to London Luton just over Manchester had a Gen 1 drive disc failure diverted into birmingham but wasnt sure what i should really do. Can anyone help first major failure i have had so far. I know i should divert to nearest suitable airport but what procedure should i do. RLambert

May 26, 201313 yr I know i should divert to nearest suitable airport but what procedure should i do. If the APU is available, start the APU. When you start the APU, you have a second source of electrical power. You can continue on to your destination. If it is not available, then you divert. You only have one source of electrical power.
