June 13, 201312 yr Hi, Was looking at the package and it has some great reviews. My only concern is the footprint and how much it affects FSX when running on the same computer. Bob Officially retired
June 13, 201312 yr Commercial Member It has no affect on FSX at all, there is no measurable drop in frame rate, and the software is designed that way. If you replace EZCA you will even see an increase in performance equivalent to between 3 and 6 FPS. Stephen

June 13, 201312 yr Commercial Member Then you will also be able to enjoy the ultra realistic DHM and intelligent turbulence effects, the turbulence all tied in and supervised by the LWE which knows the exact meteorological conditions surrounding your aircraft. Stephen :-)
June 13, 201312 yr I bought Opus I believe back in February and have been using it ever since for both weather and DHM/camera views. My sim ran smooth prior to using Opus and it continues to run smooth since. Sorry I don't have exact FPS numbers to give you but I don't pay too much attention to them. As long as it's a "smooth" experience, I'm happy. The bottom line, Opus definitely didn't have any negative impact for me performance wise. If anything, I think it "feels" better(again, no exact numbers to reference here, sorry). So, combine that with what is an EXCELLENT weather engine and the turbulence effects and it is one of the best add ons I have ever bought for FSX! Well worth it!! Great support from Stephen and Cheryl too if you ever need it or have any questions. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024

Stephen :-) Hi Stephen, "Ultra-Realistic" I would have accepted just "Realistic". FSX could have had a tag line of "Ultra-Realisitc as it gets". Just kidding around Stephen, just so you know. I just could not resist. Bob I bought Opus I believe back in February and have been using it ever since for both weather and DHM/camera views. June 13, 201312 yr Commercial Member That's OK Bob. I occasionally add the 'ultra' because everyone says realistic but these effects were actually recorded using a 3D accelerometer on board actual aircraft so the DHM is just replaying RW recorded effects, as opposed to trying to simulate them with sine waves, random motions etc. Stephen

I ask because I do use EZCA and do experience an occasional/seldom FPS drop while using TrackIR 5. I would be interested to know what this is based on because if its true I will look into OPUS because, as well all know, every extra bit helps with FSX. - Jordan Jafferjee - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D | Asus X670-E Pro Prime | Gigabyte RTX4080 Eagle | 64G G.Skill Trident Z.5 DDR5-6000 | Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360 | 2x2TB Samsung 990 Pro NVME | NZXT H7 | Win 11 24H2 | TM Warthog Flight Stick + Throttle | Honeycomb Alpha + Bravo | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals | Samsung 43" Odyssey Neo G7 | Dell U3415W
June 13, 201312 yr Commercial Member Just observations and reports from users and personal experience. OpusFSX is a non invasive program that makes minimal demands on FSX and does not interface directly with joysticks, keyboards etc.. The performance increases have all been reported by users. Stephen
June 13, 201312 yr Thanks Kevin, nice to hear from a satisfied user. What are your specs? Hmmm, I thought I had those filled out in my profile. So, let's see how good my memory is since I'm away from my PC right now...I have an i5 2500K overclocked to 4.0Ghz I believe, a 1GB 560Ti video card, 8G of RAM(I forget the specs on it right now), Win7 64-bit, 1TB WD Black HDD. ASUS MB(but I forget the exact model now). It's not the best system in the world by any means but pretty good. Like I said, I have a "smooth" experience everywhere I go with the NGX including the big mega airports from Aerosoft. And, of course, all of that is with Opus running too. June 13, 201312 yr Commercial Member @McLaren there is a free demo version of OpusFSX and also there is a 30 day refund policy if you are not completely happy with the software. If you do decide to try OpusFSX then before disabling EZCA to test Live Camera in OpusSX, the EZCA configuration utility must be run and the "Restore" function selected to restore all camera views to FSX default, otherwise EZCA camera definitions are not removed from the aircraft config files.
