June 14, 201312 yr Not sure I'm landing this thing right. The rear wheels touch down normal but the plane ends up gliding nose up WAY down the runway and this is with brakes applied and full elevator down (to help push the nose down). I'm not sure when I'm allowed or should apply the reversers. I assume right when the nose just touches down I apply full reversers? But unless I land just right, that causes me to near miss the last runway turnoff cause of the nose floating off the pavement most of the way. Is there a trick I'm missing. My autothrottle landing speed is around 158knots btw.
June 14, 201312 yr In real life they applied reverse thrust once the nose gear had made contact. The captain also called "stick forward" once the nose gear was on the ground, at the same time that he applied reverse thrust. I would disengage the autothrottle before landing tho, you need to idle the throttles when you are about 15-20 feet above the runway. Concorde needs a very long runway when you are landing heavy, but you shouldn't have the nose high much of the time. Judging from the absolutely magnificent ITVV video about Concorde it takes about 6 seconds from the main gear touch down until the nose gear touches down vatsim s3
June 14, 201312 yr Most importantly....what is your centre of gravity when you are attempting to land? anything rearwards of 52.5/53 will cause problems. Peter Peter Schluter
June 14, 201312 yr Author I dunno, nothing I do or try comes even close to nose down in 6 seconds. I've made a post on the official forums to see what might be up.
June 14, 201312 yr Author Have you looked at your cog? Yup, 52.8 Video example. http://youtu.be/1KiyhmPPH3s
