Cloud_Coverage_Density ?

Featured Replies

Defaulted to 8 in FS9.cfg...when I increase to 10 or 12 it will save for that particular flight but does not keep the value indefinitely.  Is there some way to save it at 10 permanently?

Thanks

No, because it is a value outside of the normal range, you need to re-set it before each session.

Is 12 the maximum cloud coverage for FS9?  I already have cloud coverage maxed out in the FS9 display setting.  If I'm reading this right, I can get even more coverage by manually putting in the number in the FS9 cfg?

You can try other values, but the highest I have seen used is 12. Remember this is for layer thickness, not display distance.

Aaah, thank you.  Layer thickness is perfect as I have cloud distance set to 50mi using REX HD clouds and 4 layers set on ASE.  I will try setting the coverage density to 12.

Thanks.

If you set Cloud_Coverage_Density=12 in your FS9.cfg, it should hold it provided you never make any slider changes while in FS9.  As soon as you move one slider, it will default back to Cloud_Coverage_Density=8.  Experiment and try it.  Set Cloud_Coverage_Density=12, start FS9 and fly (without making any slider changes) then exit FS9 and check your Cloud_Coverage_Density setting.  Do the same test again, but this time make one slider change while in FS9 and then check Cloud_Coverage_Density.

So to keep it from never changing, once you set it to 12, never touch a FS9 slider... Good luck with that

To guarantee my Cloud_Coverage_Density remains always at 12, I've written a batch program which I use.

The batch program accomplishes this for me:

1. Assigns one of multiple FS9.cfg files to be used for a particular flight depending upon which user aircraft is flown. Then it copies the chosen FS9.cfg and overwrites the last used FS9.cfg ensuring settings are always the same as the last flight.
2. Copies a premade weather file for the flight I'll be flying.
3. Sets affinity for FS9.
4. Starts FS9 and any other programs required for FS9.

Makes it very easy to start FS9 and accomplish many tasks without thinking or forgetting one step.
