October 24, 200421 yr Just thought I'd let everyone know I found a way to have the best of both worlds with this freeware add-on. First off there are two packages for the Airport Environment Upgrade scenery. The original version was "Airport Environment Upgrade_MX" and the latest version is "Airport Environment Upgrade 6.06". Problem with 6.06 is the building textures are so toned down that you can basically see through the whole building. I couldn't stand it. The MX original version had some cool building textures where you could see shops and seating inside. Here's a pic of what I've done with KMSP using Lago's FSE and I still have great Framerates (no different from the default).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/95325.jpgInstallation:1. First off back everything up....2. Install all the textures from the newer "Airport Environment Upgrade 6.06" textures in your FS2k4 directory.3. Unzip all the textures from the older "Airport Environment Upgrade_MX" into a temp folder (make sure you can see the file sizes).4. Move all the smaller files (basically everything but the 1,026 KB sized files) into your FS2k4 texture directory overwriting the previous 6.06 textures. Now you'll have much better airport textures and no framerate hit. It seems that the 1,026 sized files were the ones causing the problem in the first place. You could be at 32,000ft and still have framerate problems with those files.Enjoy..... :-) FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
October 24, 200421 yr Commercial Member Dillon, If you don't want performace problem or stutter, just compare to default fs2004 KBMB and match them by resize them, anything higher will cause some problems, specialy when there is dense feature clouds, AI etc all togheter + 3rd party addons.ThanksChris Willis[link:fsw.simflight.com/FSWMenuFsSim.html]Clouds And Addons For MsFs Kind RegardsChris Willis
October 24, 200421 yr Author Chris maybe I'm doing something wrong but I tried resizing the 1,026 files but they would get any smaller without sacrificing quality. I'm happy (and most should be to) with the basic steps above. The 6.06 textures that don't get overwritten look fine anyway.... I actually kept the 6.06 runway/taxiway textures... October 25, 200421 yr Author I guess v6.01.03 is the current version. I don't know if I got 6.06 from one of the files or what. You guys have the latest version if you have "Airport Environment Upgrade v6.0"...Sorry for the misunderstanding...
